There's nothing fancy about this place, but the renovations and well kept rooms mean things are clean and comfortable. The reason I am giving it four stars is that it is really convenient, especially if you have dogs. Besides having a place to stop before the parking lot traffic of the beltway when coming from the west, this property is right next door to a zagat rated Indian restaurant (Minerva), convenience store (with beer, etc.), pharmacy, pizza place, and Dunkin' Donuts. It's great for dogs, as the fees per dog are only $15 per, and there is a small park behind the hotel with lots of grass. This small park also has picnic tables, a grill, and a horseshoe set-up. While you won't write home about the rooms (pretty typical stuff), this hotel will win you over as a one night layover near DC. Free parking, wifi (also typically slow as in most hotels), and breakfast and fast elevators. A few other notables for a budget place: plenty of pillows with different firmness, 4 towels, and a larger rectangle fridge (rather than the tiny cube ones) that is great if you brought lots of drinks and/or food with you or have babies with bottles, etc.
Seems silly to have double beds instead of queen, though, so bear this in mind if you are trying to cram a family of 4 in one.More
