“A great time!”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

We had a wonderful weekend with the Crows on their farm. This is a working farm and they quite busy (Roy was harvesting the corn and Judy was all over the place). In spite of their busy schedules, we had a nice tour and introduction to the farm animals - mini horses, Black Angus cows, chickens, their two dogs and various cats. We also had a nice trek around the farm (over 300 acres) and got our appetite up for dinner at the Granary. According to Roy, the sunset at the Granary is perfect in the fall (when we went) and the Kitty Knight is perfect for summer sunsets. We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting and tour of the winery with Doug, their helper. He's a delight to sit and talk with and learn about growing grapes and turning them into wine. Breakfast was delicious and Judy was able to accommodate a gluten free diet perfectly. We enjoyed the conversation with the other guests and would recommend the Crow Farm to anyone who wants to learn about what it's like to live/work on a farm.

Room Tip: We stayed in the barn-view room, which was lovely. You also have a view of the back patio and pool...

We had a wonderful stay with Judy and Roy at their cozy B&B. Both were cordial and very happy to chat at length. The B&B is off the major road, so traffic is not an issue, while still being only a short distance from dining options and local attractions. Set on a farm that includes a winery, barns, animals, and a pool, Crow Farm B&B provides a great opportunity to get away from it all and relax, or to use as a central point for sight seeing and getting out and about.

The B&B (there's a 2-room cottage available, as well) is in a house originally built in 1843, and while there have been additions, most of the flooring seems to be original, or close to it. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, with a private bath, and we had easy access to and from the room. The sun room was a great place to just go sit and relax, and chat.

If you arrive while the winery tasting room is open, do not miss the opportunity to sample the Crow wines, or simply enjoy the atmosphere. If you enjoy wines, get a cheese sampler and stay a while.

The farm area is clean and well manicured, and it's very clear that Judy puts in time to maintain the flowers. There's a great shaded area for relaxing, nestled under pine trees, if you want to relax, nap, and just enjoy the quiet. The farm has chickens, miniature horses, cows, cats, and couple of very friendly labs!

If Judy extends the offer to cook dinner, DO NOT SAY NO! The grain-fed beef burgers were incredible, and all of the vegetables were fresh, locally grown, and delicious! I think we had the best cheeseburger...EVER...and we're really glad that we accepted the offer for dinner!

Judy and Roy not only have wines available for sale, but beef, as well. In fact, guests can get a beef sampler packed up to take home. If you stay at the B&B, Judy makes an awesome ham steak and french toast (eggs from the chickens right there at the farm), with local maple syrup.

Whether you're looking for some place to stay in the area to use as a base for sight seeing, or just passing through the area and looking for a winery to try out, do not miss the opportunity to stop by and enjoy what Judy and Roy have to offer.

Room Tip: If you have a family, or a group, you might consider staying in the cottage.

We just returned from a lovely overnight stay at Crow Farm B&B. The weather did not cooperate on Sunday but we still enjoyed a wine-tasting and tour with Doug, who was very friendly and engaging. Judy and Roy - the owners - were very nice and accommodating. The farm is lovely and peaceful - a perfect spot to unplug (no wi-fi) and relax. Breakfast was delicious. We stayed in the Barn View room which was cozy and very clean. Note - there are two very friendly yellow labs and Curious the cat who like to greet guests. That was fine with us. We would recommend the Crow Farm to anyone seeking a nice, quiet, friendly spot in the country.

Room Tip: All the rooms were lovely - just be aware that the Pasture View room has a private bathroom but it i...

The Crow Farm winery and B&B is beautiful, casual, and relaxing. The couple who owns/runs it are very nice, but don't seem to have worked out all of the logistics of running a farm, winery, B&B, and tasting room. When we went, their tasting room only offered two types of wine, both white. But we had a fantastic, relaxing weekend.

This is just as it seems--a peaceful, friendly, comfortable getaway--plus a blossoming vineyard. Judy and Russ are veteran, accommodating hosts, relaxed and knowing. The bedrooms are a little larger than average and quite homey. You can book a complimentary tour of the vineyard and wine-making process to go with a good taste or two of wine, plus cookies and other handy snacks. Judy checks in with you about food preferences and delivers a delicious, full-fledged breakfast--not oversized, but filling--and you can also book a reasonable country dinner, if you like. The website is on target and easy to navigate. The homestead is surrounded by acres of peaceful farm in a county loaded with them. Touring is not optimal, but pleasant, with a choice of shops and "walk-arounds" in Chestertown, MIddletown, Odessa, and other smaller towns along the way. And the farm is not a long drive from Baltimore, Wilmington, Philly, Jersey, and nearby counties. Thank you for noting if this entry was helpful to you; I hope it was.

Room Tip: We liked the vineyard view; the pasture view is pleasant, too, though it's bath is outside the r...

Thank you for the wonderful roast, sausage and scrapple. We enjoyed all of them on Christmas Day. They were delicious and were enjoyed by the entire family. The tour of the wine making room was quite impressive. Kent County is fortunate to have such a unique farm stay and winery. Thank you Judy!
