“Lovely location and view, but not worth the price”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

The Wades Point Inn is in a lovely location right on the bay. The grounds are pretty and relaxing as is the main house. We chose a room with a great view and we had a glass of wine and watched the sun go down that was very nice. The rooms were fine but not special. The tap water tasted terrible and there was no bottled water available in the room. In my mind, at the price we paid,a couple of bottles of water is the least they could do since the tapwater tastes bad. The buffet breakfast was mediocre and the hot food was not kept hot so it was room temperature by the time we arrived for breakfast. It basically felt like a Holiday Inn Express experience (although the breakfast might be better at the Holiday Inn) but in a lovely location. I think they should visit other top B & B's in this price range to find out what service and amenities can really be like. It would definitely be a great spot to rent for a weekend event like a reunion or wedding as the grounds are great for relaxing and socializing but you'd still need to work around the bad breakfast.

Room Tip: The rooms with a sunset view cost more, but it's the best part of the experience.

Location, location, location. If you want to get away from it all for a bit and love the outdoors, this is the place for you. The water surrounds you on three sides and it is so quiet you can relax and be in a peaceful, happy state before you know it. The sunsets were beautiful over the water. One night, after dinner in St Michael's, we went to the back of the main house and did some star gazing. I felt like we were out West in one of the national parks. The stars were countless and we could see the Milky Way.

The room was fine, the staff was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was yummy. Most of all though, we loved the view and the peace we felt during our visit. We will return!

Room Tip: We stayed in the main house in the Victorian section. We looked at the rooms in the newer building...

Thank you for your kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you back at a future date to do some more incredible star gazing. We agree, it is indeed like being in Big Sky Montana!
John Bozman Leeds owned this property for a time in the 1800's and he was a noted astronomer who, as we understand it, had an observation tower here on the property.

Wades Point Inn was amazing! My wife purchased a Groupon deal for this place and stole me away for the weekend for my birthday. Man, what a great surprise it was! It's conveniently located nearby St. Michael's, MD, but still far enough away that you felt secluded and comfortable. The building was old and charming but still had enough modern conveniences that we were comfortable. We were able to disconnect from technology and just enjoy ourselves for the weekend. It was truly fantastic! The staff is friendly and accommodating, the breakfast was tasty and filling, the rooms were charming, the location was amazing! We were able to lounge in a hammock, right on the bay, and just enjoy nature. They even provide bicycles for exploring the property and kayaks for going out on the water. I couldn't have asked for better! My only complaint: the bed was a little old and rickety and the mattress wasn't that comfortable.

What a pleasant surprise for our first time stay at a B&B and the Chesapeake Bay, MD. I booked our stay at the Wades Point Inn since my boyfriend and I were planning to attend a family event in Maryland and wanted to be nearby. We were both so very happy and pleased that we were not disappointed in any way. The Wades Point Inn is an absolutely beautiful place with amazing views of the water. It had all we wanted. My boyfriend loved that he could fish right off the property and even caught fish! He had brought his own rod but they have fishing rods available. There were kayaks, paddle boards, a canoe and bike also available which we took advantage of. The location is only 5 miles from the historic town of St. Michaels and was a nice bike ride away (also was great that Md. is a flat and had wide bike lanes). The staff was very pleasant and attentive. We stayed at the Main house which is over 200 years old and filled with charm and character. We and had a private bath (with a claw tub). The bath was outside the room in the hallway but nearby enough. The room had air conditioning which was put on prior to our arrival to assure our comfort. Each morning there was a delicious breakfast served which varied with several of the following dishes such as home made granola, yogurt, blueberry pancakes, french toast, baked egg with crab meat, homemade biscuits, sausage casserole and more. The website photos accurately depict the beauty of the Inn. We will definitely stay at the Wades Point Inn again.

Room Tip: The room was clean and had adequate dresser and closet space and a small sink in the room and an A/C...

We have stayed at many upscale B&B's and while this is a lovely place it just didn't have the warm host/innkeeper feel we get at many B&B's of higher caliber. We never really met the innkeeper. There are many different buildings here with different price ranges. We stayed in the new building which was nice. Some of the older buildings may have issues that older buildings have. Breakfast was fine but more like a continental breakfast with some premade warm choices you would get at a hotel. Most B&B's have water bottles in the room or a frig with various drink choices and some have after-noon treats and evening sherry. This place did not. It's all about the view and hiking around the property or doing a canoe ride. Not a bad place at all..just not our thing.

Thank you for your genuine comments and feelings. We are owner operated for the last 30 years and do our best to welcome our guests. Those we may miss at check-in we usually meet during breakfast. Clearly we missed you at every turn, we're very sorry to hear that “the personal touch” was lacking on your stay with us. We do generally have homemade cookies as well as iced tea, iced coffee, and iced water out for guests in the breakfast room, not sure what we were doing the weekend of your visit. We have taken on board your suggestion to add bottled water to the fridges in the Kemp Guesthouse since it's a walk from the breakfast room. We quite like your idea for afternoon sherry but can't say thats in place yet. Thank you again and we hope you will give us an opportunity to serve you once more at a future date.

My husband and I were nearly disappointed having started late in making plans for Labor Day weekend. Having a want and need to be near water I searched high and low to make it happen...Wades Point Inn literally had the last room in the inn...any inn (from Avalon, NJ, to Cape Charles, VA). How pleased we where to find such tranquility so close to home. It was indeed pure luck that the Duck room was available within 24 hours of arriving. Once settled in the surroundings enveloped us like a warm cocoon and we knew immediately we needed to book a third night...finishing our stay in the Sunrise suite. We needed to leave the fast pace, electronic-driven world behind...which we succeeded in doing. As many have shared, Wades Point Inn is not far beyond St. Michaels, a right turn off the main road...down a country lane that pulls you in front of a most charming main house. For sport there are bikes, kayaks, paddle boards and canoe...for pure leisure, there are numerous options for doing nothing at all. Options for sitting and taking in the views are many...the pictures from their website tell it all...expansive yard, water views everywhere, lounge chairs and hammocks within reach. The staff were all quite enjoyable...very much at want to serve and know that all is well. As many before us, we will return.

Room Tip: It's not much of a bother to us...but, others may find they prefer a private bath that is access...

Relaxing, quiet, peaceful and amazing views of the water and wildlife during our stay. The quirks of the late 1800's historical home were wonderful. Rooms options range from snug to elaborate. We're putting Wade Point Inn on our list as a "must-do again".

Room Tip: Room options vary widely from rooms dating from the late 1800's in the main house (some with bat...
