“We Were Sorry to Go!”
Reviewed 14 January 2014

We came to stay for our anniversary weekend and had a wonderful time. We thought the service was wonderful - everyone was friendly and helpful and seemed very invested in making sure we were comfortable. There was a problem with one of the supports on our bed and it was fixed promptly. The room was clean, with attractive furnishings and all the comforts you could need down to a microwave and minifridge. We used the fireplace each night and really appreciated the coziness it brought to the room. The lodge was also a great location - very easy to find and close to everything. Wisp was not even a 10 minute drive - we even had a prefect view of the slopes from our terrace. The only things I would change are to have a closet (there was a spot to hang things but a real closet would have been nice), and to add a small snack table in the interior stairwell. We appreciated having the coffee, tea, and snack bars in the office, but once or twice wanted a cup of tea after the office had closed. Otherwise Lakestar is just about perfect and we would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at Lake Star one night this winter - we were skiing at Wisp. The people at the Lodge were very accomodating - staying in the office until we arrived at 9 pm. The room was great - beautiful fireplace with log provided and a couch in front of it. Great bed and linens. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. Wonderful romantic get away!

This is the second time my fiance and I have visited Lakestar. The first time was in 2012 and we had a great experience. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The room we stayed in was spotless. The fireplace and the layout of the room in general made it feel like home. Since then, they've made some renovations that really added to the appearance of the rooms. From the outside, the lodge looks a little dumpy, but once you step inside their office or go into your room, you realize you just found the best hidden gem in all of Deep Creek.

Pro Tips:

Though they have fireplaces, they don't allow real wood to be burned. They provide you with one of those Duraflame logs that last about 3-4 hours. For a longer stay, you might want to plan ahead and buy a few of your own. There is a heater in the room, so the fire is really just for ambiance.

The room we stayed in has a microwave and a mini fridge. They also have complementary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in their office, but no coffee maker in the room.

There IS a DVD player in the room, so you can plan to bring your own movies if desirable.

My boyfriend and I spent 1 night here in January 2014 to celebrate his birthday. We intended to ski at Wisp, but opted for 1 run down the mountain coaster instead since the temperature was 7 degrees! The hotel is in a great location, right next to the slopes of Wisp and each room has a view of the mountain. We stayed in room 208 (a remodeled room) which was beautiful and nicely furnished and decorated. The in-room fireplace was really nice, even if all you can burn is a "starter log". It was still created a nice romantic atmosphere in the room. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Room 208 is a remodeled Queen room and is great!

I've been coming to Deep Creek for years and staying at our own house. But with the house sold I needed a place to stay. The LakeStar Lodge doesn't look like much from the outside, the remodeled rooms (I stayed in 106) are actually quite nice, the beds are comfie and you get a great view of the lake and slopes. I also found the rate quite reasonable.

And finally - the staff were SUPER helpful. I had a issue with my car and Seth at the front desk tracked down what I needed. I would say here again for sure.

Room Tip: Make sure you asked for a remodeled room.

We stayed here to ring in the new year at the lake and it was a great place to stay for a little get away. The room was gorgeous including the view. It is conveniently located near anything you'd like to do while vactioning. We look forward to returning for another stay in the future.
