“Cabins & Campground with Beach,Boating, and great Seafood...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

The title says it all. The Elk Neck State Park has been a summer magnet for folks with an interest in an active lifestyle getaway. Whether they are vacationing for a week or two --or-- just seeking a pleasant weekend of fun. There's even a lighthouse to visit and walking trails, of Turkey Point, overlooking scenic vistas of the Chesapeake Bay. The mention of seafood in the title does not refer to the park itself, but to the ever improving restaurant selection of eateries just 8 miles north of the park -- in North East, Maryland. There are great choices such as "The Oyster Bar at Steak & Main", Pier One Restaurant", "The Black Pearl Seafood Grill", "The Nauti Goose", "Woody's Crab House" and the sophisticated "Unwined" -- all excellent spots to satisfy your craving for seafood, but also delivering steaks and Italian specialies as well!

“A great place for a day or a week”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2013

An excellent state park with a great variety of facilities, good walking trails, a beach area, boat launch, campground, cabins and a lighthouse on a bluff overlooking the water. The staff at the park operations office are very friendly and are a great source of information on the park and the surrounding area.

The trail to the light house is an easy to moderate walk from the parking area. The lighthouse is a jewel, well maintained and a great photo point. Seasonally it is open on weekends and you can climb the stairs up to light level. When returning to the parking area take the side trail along the river, there are interesting water views through the trees.

The campground is well laid out and maintained, the RV area has back in and pull through sights with full hookups and the campground area is wooded. The cabins are located in a quiet wooded area.

This is a great park for day use or for camping and boating. Be sure to check website for seasons, charges and regulations.

“Turkey Point incredible short hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 November 2013

Maybe a 2 mile round trip hike. Excellent viewing mid am of eagle, hawks, and lots of butterflies. The park allowed meadows to go natural this year instead of mowing and it resulted in lots of little yellows, cabbage whites, buckeyes and other butterflies to return to this area. The views at lighthouse are amazing. Be careful of small children and cliff edge.

“The park had so many awesome water views!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013 via mobile

We had such a nice afternoon hiking to the historic lighthouse. Then we got lucky because someone was available to let us inside the lighthouse! The view was amasing! Drove down to the beach area. It was very nice. Need to go back during the summer so we can use it. Need to go back and hike the other trails.

“A nice retreat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2013

This park hAs it all. Camping, Fishing, crabbing, boating and some great views. The lighthouse trail is definitely a must. I launch my boat here and the ramps are great and not crowded. It puts you within some awesome views of the Cheseapeake. Just to sit on the Dock alone is heaven! Its inexpensive to park your car in the Rogue Harbor area. A cheap day out and one you won't forget.
