This sign was on the wall of #306C, and we decided that means YOU the renter, not the owner. We paid more for a week-end here than we ever have before because we were celebrating our anniversary. The weather was supposed to be bleak, but there was a fireplace, movies, cooking facilities, and a nice pool and hot tubs. Imagine our disappointment when we discovered that we had to bring firewood, or go out to buy some if we were going to enjoy the cozy fire we had envisioned! The check-in desk had some fake paper logs for sale, too expensive, I thought, but that wasn't going to provide the ambiance we had anticipated. Well, we thought, we can get a movie from the condo library, and the evening won't be a complete bust. But NO, this condo has a VHS player!! No VHS movies of course, in the condo or in the library! Who uses these things any more? At the price of this condo, things should be up to date. Well, not to despair, there is a stereo - but NO, it doesn't work. Let's sit on the balcony and overlook the lake for a while - NO - no porch furniture of any sort - not even some plastic chairs. Time for bed, let's close the blinds for privacy - NO - the blinds will not close. There is a hideabed in the livingroom, but you wouldn't be able to use it because of the blinds. Morning comes, let's cook breakfast of ham, eggs, and pancakes. Oh yes, there is a cheap set of tiny teflon skillets that have already seen better days. No matter, we can cook one pancake at a time...

The decor is pleasant in the condo, the bed upstairs was comfortable enough. The bathroom was pretty decent, but the door was shredded with laminate peeling off. The whole effect was to leave one feeling ripped off and duped.

The first 18 hours of our stay was just one sad revelation after another until I proposed we just go home. My husband reminded me we had paid over $400 for the week-end and would not be getting our money back, so try to make the best of a bad deal. Since we had been able to purchase some firewood on our excursion to Swallow Falls State Park the next morning, the anniversary dinner was saved by adding a cozy fire which burned for about 4 hours.

The staff at the desk were more than helpful and, when we responded truthfully at check out to the question regarding whether everything was OK, we were contacted personally by the manager and rebated 10% of our stay with a promise that the owner will be urged to make these necessary upgrades.

Room Tip: Stay away from #306 unless the owner responds to this review to say these things have been fixed. The pool area on the 3rd floor, practically across from this condo, is excellent, with 2 lovely hot tubs - not so hot that you cannot bear to use them.

We found this hotel/resort, with an in-room fireplace, and full kitchen with a second in-room balcony one of the best in the area. The Staff is more than helpful and courteous. Very Reasonable! Everything is handy there! Restaurant and Boat/Jet Ski rental! We love it!!!

Room Tip: All rooms face the beach and lake!

I love everything about this place from the 1970's wallpaper, to the aquatic area to the beautiful lake front views. People are great and Garrett County is neighborly. Situated right on Deep Creek Lake, this hotel is surrounded by a nice variety of shops and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend at all times of the year.

We ended up at Will O the Wisp after a pipe burst at Silver Tree Suites while on a business retreat and what a disappointment. It was more money, and while spacious, it was pretty outdated. We stopped at the bar on our way out to the Dutch's for dinner and that seemed reasonably priced with great service, but when we returned at a mere 11pm on a Friday night, the bar was already closed up. The desk (who were also packing up for the night) told the 10+ of us we could go to the social area on the 5th floor. What a joke - it was some couches in the hall and with all the fireplaces had the smokiest/strangest smell ever. Our room had an olive green fridge and matching shag carpet. The bathroom seemed reasonably clean but was the least spacious of anything. The glassware in the kitchen hadn't been washed in at least a couple years, so before we had any beverages I had to do the dishes. I believe our room cost was $213 a night. It's a shame we ended up there, would not return.

We booked a fall trip here two months ago in one of the Full-Bedroom-Loft Units on the 7th floor. Our stay here was an outstanding experience. When booking, our host Spencer, was extremely helpful answering my many questions. During the stay, the front desk was very helpful in offering recommendations and accommodating any requests (extra wine glasses and extra time on checkout). The views from the 704 unit were excellent...It was a awesome waking up to a spectacular view of the lake. One of the days was dreary, so it was useful that the room had a blu-ray player and 42" LCD TV. Also the game room and the pool/hot-tub were handy for that day. The attached restaurant (Aces?) was quality and a nice spot to hang out. Overall an excellent experience and will be back.
