“Old timey hotel right on the boardwalk”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

My husband and I stayed here in June 2014 for a long weekend. We are both serious beach lovers, and this hotel was exactly what we wanted and expected. The location is simply amazing, and there is ample free parking right behind the hotel. You could park your car here and then not use it again for your entire stay. One caveat: there are no elevators, and the rooms starting with "1" are actually 1.5 flights of steps up. We were in room 306 (recommended), so it was 3.5 flights up. The room was small, sure, but it was clean and had everything we needed for a beach trip: bed, window a/c unit, dresser, mini-fridge, flat TV, free wi-fi, closet, and attached bathroom. Decor is, to be honest, nonexistent -- no pictures on the walls, no throw pillows, no curtains. The shower is a stall, not a whole tub, and the sink is just a sink with no counter. But who cares? You're at the beach! The staff is friendly and nice, and our room was made up in the morning each day.
The building is old, so yes, some of the floors are not level (this is something many reviewers have noticed), but to that I say: Who cares? If you are like us and plan to spend as little time in your hotel room as possible, this shouldn't even be a factor for you. The hotel is on top of Shenanigan's Irish pub, but we couldn't hear the pub at all from room 306. The a/c is a tiny window unit, but the room is tiny, so it works just fine. We were there during "senior week," which always seems to go on for the whole summer, so we'd worried that the hallways would be loud -- nope, not even. They do not allow visitors to come to the guest rooms, so I think that discourages the hard partiers. Now, there are no balconies, so "ocean view" is not going to be as spectacular as it is on some oceanfront properties, but again: Who cares? If you want to see the ocean, just go out on the boardwalk. This hotel is old-school OC. If you are looking for fluffy comforters, free bottled water, room service, elevators, and plush carpet, look elsewhere. But if you want a good place to lie down between trips to the beach and boardwalk, this place is a solid choice. Have fun in OC!

Room Tip: Clean rooms, top floor is quiet, but no elevators!

We are have been staying at the Shoreham for 8 years and we make our reservation with Angel the manager everytime. She and her staff are always so accomodating to us. It is one of the older hotels on the boardwalk, but that doesn't take away from the comfort and convenience of this property. When you walk out of your hotel, you are right in the middle of everything at 4th street on the board walk. The inlet is only a short walk away. This truly is the best value when staying in ocean city.

I have never experienced a hotel like this before. The floors aren't even level. You walk in andthe floor slopes up and feels like you are going to fall through. Then it levels out. To the left where the tv sits you can clearly tell it is massively leaning to the left. The farther to the left where another bed is, you can tell the floor slopes the other way. My husband had to sleep with his head at fhe foot of the bed because the feet were higher than the head. He also had to put stuff behind he drink of the side table to keep it from falling over it is leaning so badly. The tiny bathroom is scary too because the floor slopes so badly and creaks badly too. The noise from the pub went on until 2 am. I have 2 children with me. The walls are paper thin and the floors so noisy you can hear them everytime someone walks. I barely slept at all too because the bed was hard and I itched all night. Only booked here because it was the only place I could get last minute for a sand soccer tournament. They also make you were bracelets in order to enter the hotel like it's some sort of amusement park.

I'm very sorry you were not happy with your stay, your husband came to front desk in morning and only complained that you had a medical condition to make you dizzy and you need to check out, we gave you a full refund, and the wristbands were for your safety only due to it was colle take over week in ocean city md and we wanted to monitor who all of our guest was considering we had lots of kids staying here for sand soccer.

If you're looking for a cheap(ish) place to sleep on the boardwalk, this place would work, but the rooms are tiny & outdated. Reminded me of a creepy old house when walking up to our room. Wasn't a fan of the sign saying if you had visitors, you wouldn't be allowed to stay any longer. The parking lot is fenced & you get a pass, which is nice, but it's tight & it wasn't clear whether anyone actually checked the cars for parking passes.

Stay is great if you just need bed to rest your head. Gret price and down on the boardwalk best irish pub and grille i have ever been to. Also close to the entrance of the strip and close to amusement park. Make sure you get a top floor room or you'll hear all footsteps possible

This hotel has a great location, is clean, comfortable, and is a great price. The downsides are the decor, or lack thereof, and the noise factor. First, the positives. It's located on the boardwalk. Perfect! The beds were comfy. Clean linens. No smell, no sand, no mold, no bugs. For being on the water with a beach view, IMO, price was reasonable. Downside? It lacked decor. The bathroom looked "unfinished". Yes, the shower stall was tiny, but I expected that from the pix. The worst part was the noise from the bar downstairs. Loud music til 1 a.m. If you have small kids, I wouldn't recommend. For a long weekend or if your on a budget, I'd recommend it.

Room Tip: We had an ocean view which made up for the lack of decor in the room. I would choose top floor to, h...

I booked this hotel for its low cost for July 29 to Aug 1 2013. I got a confirmation email stating the three night stay at 354 not including tax. When we got there they were nice at first but the rooms were small, the sink was in the same room you slept in but we were ok with all of that because of the low prices for three days. On July 31 we got a call stating that we are to be out by 11 because we only booked for two days for the 354 and not three. I had the confirmation email with me about the three day stay and that I WAS CORRECT. They told us there is nothing they could do about it and we had to leave a day early. I've been trying to contact this hotel with no response. I will never stay at this hotel again. There prices for the rooms are not worth it. You have to walk up stairs to get to any of the rooms and it is loud. I wouldn't even rate it a 1. Just a warning...do not stay at this hotel!!!

Room Tip: The higher floors are better to not hear loud noise but you have to walk up tons of stairs... not wo...
