“"That's Right" is the Right Choice in Islamaroda, FL”

Captain John gave our family of eight a great afternoon of fishing in the Florida Keys! Despite rougher sea conditions, within the first two hours we brought in 23 keepers, including several grouper and snapper that John had cleaned and bagged for us within minutes of returning to the dock. But what really defined the superior nature of this charter and its owner was the incredibly generous manner in which Captain John reduced the cost of the charter after we chose to cut it short so we could get several of our seasick fisherman back to land. Captain John got us back fast and all were fine within minutes such that we could eat the fish we just caught over at the nearby Lazy Days restaurant (one of many great recommendations Captain John shared with us over the course of our stay in Islamorada). I hope to fish with Captain John next summer in Ocean City, and will certainly charter That's Right the next time I am in the Key's seeking warm winter sunshine. That's Right winters at Bud n Mary's Marina - 79851 Overseas Highway, Islamorada, FL 33036.

“New Year's Eve- Islamorada, FL out of Bud and Mary's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2013

Our family of 8 (one 4 yr old) got a charter with Captain John and his mate Andrew on New Year's Eve. WE left from Bud and Mary's around 7am and headed out to the light house for some baits. After a short stop for baits we headed to start fishing. Right away John put us on fish. Our trip started by catching a nice sail fish. We went on to catch a 32 lb king mackerel and another smaller king plus a couple bonitas and a type of sturgeon. Once everyone had time to catch a fish in that spot we moved on a little bit and the guys set us up on some yellow fin snappers. We caught some where in the realm of about 60 of those. Great little fish for eating and everyone had a great time. John and Andrew worked hard keeping the mess of all entertained and on the fish. Andrew even let my little one "help" get the bait out to put on the hooks. He was really good at engaging the kids. Overall, John and Andrew not only knew where to take us but also did a great job of gearing the trip towards the whole crowd. It was a great day.

“The Time of Your life!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2013

Captain John and crew will do whatever it takes to be sure that their clients have an unforgettable experience. In early August of last year when other boats were bringing in just a few white marlin "That's Right" pulled in 9 and a mahi mahi. He is a natural for finding the spots where the big fish hit! If I could only find more free time I would likely be out fishing with john every other week! Do yourself a favor and give my friend John a call. Once you speak with him he will be your new friend too! Oh I almost forgot to praise the boat... she is a fisherman's dream!!
Happy fishing everyone!

“ALWAYS OUTSTANDING!! Capt. John is the man!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2013

I have fished w/ Capt John many times. Try & get down to OC & fish with him, exclusively, at least twice a year. He's a die-hard ,dedicated boat captain that knows his work & is EXCELLENT at it. There is no better tuna fisherman than he, as evidenced by his past tournament winnings. He will stop at(almost)nothing to please the charter & send you away happy, with a cooler of fish to boot!! Our trip in early summer was a hit w/over a dozen blue-fin bites, several yellowfins & mahi, too .Oh, and he's a pretty good marlin man, also. The boat is one of the easiest fishing machines in OC, with an extremely large cockpit , useful for fighting numerous fish-on at one time, which is what usually happens aboard "THAT'S RIGHT". A truly class act charter group and one of the best captains I've ever fished with.

“Not at all first class”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2013

The mates were great and fun to be with and would enjoy fishing with them any time. I wasn't too big on the captain though; he is certainly not a people person, and doesn't display the necessary leadership on the boat or at the dock. Back at the slip the captain didn't acknowledge anyone or thank anyone for fishing with him. While I am sure he is a knowledgeable captain, his fishing expertise seems to be somewhat lacking (at least on the day we went.) It is interesting how one person can spend a lot of time hand jigging a line and then hook-up on a tuna, and then the rod is given to a another guy to reel in the fish, and once back at the slip all of the fish is given to the guy who reeled it in ????
