“Decent rooms, very close to boardwalk and beach”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

The room was dated but clean. Shower was newer. Had an efficiency which we really didn't use much but was nice to have a large refrigerator. We wanted a place in the beach block though it's not beachfront; you get a side ocean view. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Did not see any bugs which is always a good sign. There are so many places to stay in Ocean City and this was a typical shore hotel.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor. One elevator was a bit tempramental but fixed the next day. It was very...

Hailing from Long Island, it is hard to beat Montauk and the Hamptons. Unless its summer.
For a native, it's time to go!!
We had never been to OC before and were told by a few friends that it was comparable to the best of Lake George and Montauk - combined - and they were right!
When I began to plan the trip, I had no clue there were so many hotel choices (there must be easily 400 hotels here - big and small). Again, through a recommendation we were steered toward the Spinnaker. And again, they were right!! From the first phone call to our final goodbye (until next year...) the representatives and staff were as friendly and accommodating as I have ever met. Each and every employee was hard working, the true epitome of "southern charm," The motel is situated on the "better" section of the boardwalk. Plenty to do. I felt safe letting my children (18 & 13) walk alone on the boardwalk in the evening. I don;t think I would have felt so comfortable downtown. That alone allowed for priceless bonding time between brothers!
The Spinnaker is an older motel that is in the process of updating. While the "superior" accommodations were just a tiny bit more expensive $12.day, (tacked on to an already affordable rate) it guarantees you a room on an upper floor with a tiny bit more in the way of accommodation. Our room slept 4 comfortably... 2 double beds and a [clean & pretty comfy] pull out sofa. We had a full sized table, a full sized fridge - ice cube trays in freezer, a new stove and counter with microwave, coffee pot and a full set of dishes and utensils. The bathroom was spacious and clean,
The view was spectacular! We were fortunate enough to stay in an upper corner room so we enjoyed BEAUTIFUL views of both the ocean and the bay as well as private, unobstructed sunsets each night. Here's a fun tidbit - the motel itself is very cool looking from the street at night as you are driving up from downtown!
The pool at the Spinnaker is interesting. The motel is made up of two buildings (east and west) so the pool and the patio/sun deck join in the middle and take up the entire length of the parking lot (with PLENTY of tables, chairs and lounges). The entire area is well kept throughout the day, There is also plenty of onsite parking.
When booking the Spinnaker remember --
You can always find the good in people, places and things, all you have to do is look. Fortunately, the Spinnaker takes the stress right out of that search!

Room Tip: All corners have great views, upper corners have spectacular views!

The hotel was fine, thats all. Bathroom shower looked like it had been updated, as well as the furniture. Carpeting, wallpaper, and kitchen were old, though. But, we were not there for the room...it is very close to the beach. You do not have a good ocean view...the rooms do not face the ocean (because there is another large hotel in the way), but you can see it if you turn sideways on the balcony. We never used the pool, but it looked ok. The location was great. Close to the boardwalk and bike rentals. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Very friendly staff - and Malia's Cafe is on the first floor - yummy!

We were excited to stay here even though it was $240ish a night because of the partition wall, kitchenette, and location to the beach. We were only coming down for two nights. We found roaches after returning from dinner on our 2nd night! It's just unacceptable. If you don't mind them & don't expect 5star accommodations, then the location of this hotel makes it an ok place. We packed up immediately and left even though it was an inconvenience to travel home with a small child not to mention it cut our vacation short. I thought it was a little OCD to shake everything out before bringing anything inside but I'm so glad we did because we found a roach in our stuff! Just awful. Next time we would NOT stay here for $60 a night!

This place was clean which was what we were looking for but we were happily surprise to find out a lot more good stuff there.
The front desk staff was very helpful and pleasant, the housekeeping was very nice and did a good job,the pool was small but nice not a lot of people there so was a good thing, the location for us was great which made things easier having two little kids, and the restaurant was very nice and cozy stuff friendly and clean place.
We would be coming back here for sure. Thank you.

When we first arrived at the Spinnaker, we were a little concerned despite the great reviews. The office for check in smelled like stale smoke, however, there were signs stating the property is smoke free and there would be a $250 charge if we smoke in the room. Not a problem, we are not smokers. I thought it strange that the office smelled so strongly of smoke though. The woman at check in was very friendly and helpful, there was a younger man at the front desk that was okay, not friendly, not rude. We were very happy once we walked into our room. There was not any smoke smell and it was very clean and a nice size for 4 of us. We loved the small balcony and kitchenette. The beds were very comfortable. The pull out sofa was not but that is what we would expect. The location was fabulous! Not right in the middle of the busier section of the boardwalk. This hotel sits behind a hotel that is directly on the boardwalk, it was a very short walk to the boardwalk and beach. When we wanted to go the busier and noisier section of the boardwalk, we just walked. For some people this would be too far away. We don't mind getting exercise and could always take the tram if the walk was too much. Housekeeping was very friendly and did a great job. We thought that we put a bathing suit in with the towels and our housekeeper was fabulous and looked for it and remembered me the next day and followed up! We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money and get the efficiency plus...great room and oceanside view

We always stay at the spinnaker when on vacation. We have a great time when staying as a family with the kids and grandchildren or as a couple with just my husband an myself. It is always clean and the staff are always so nice and helpful. They go out of there way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. It's very close to the beach and lots of other thing in OC. It's my favorite place in OC.
