My family was looking for an excursion while in OC. Assateague Adventures fit the bill.

The boat leaves from Talbot Pier just two blocks off the boardwalk. You go on a short boat trip where the guide tells you some of the history of OC MD and the fishing town roots of the area. Along the way you may see groups of the wild ponies that inhabit the island (we did, but they do not guarantee it). You anchor off the coast of Assateague for about 15 minutes where you can grab a net and try to catch fish, crabs, etc. on our trip we saw a horseshoe crab, hermit crabs and schools of smaller fish that alluded all but one young boy on our boat. As we were getting back on the boat, one pony came to the water to enjoy a drink. That was worth the modest cost for me. On the boat ride back, our guide shared information about many of the sea animals that live on/ near the island. My child got a kick out of helping to show off a starfish.

The whole trip was about two hours and if you take the last boat out, you arrive back just in time it have dinner at a place on the boardwalk or pier.

My family of five took this tour on a Sunday morning at 10:30am. It cost about $73 for the family but we felt it was well worth money. We enjoyed a very educational tour of the area with a stop on Assateague island. We saw several wild ponies and got the chance to meet up close a variety of sea creatures. Drinks on board are $1. And the boarding picture was on $8 if that's your thing.
Enjoy

We had a wonderful time aboard learning about Assateague Island, wild horses, and creatures from the sea. Captain Jack and assistant Matt were very informative and made our trip enjoyable. Two restaurants were pointed out to us, one The Captains Galley and The Shark. We ate at one for lunch and the other for dinner. Great recommendations. Price reasonable.

This is not our first time to OC beach and boardwalk, but definitely our first time on the Bayside. We did expect a massive crowd in the boardwalk scene, and made plans for alternative activities on the Bay side. This trip was better than we imagined. The Captain and his assistant knew a lot about the area, wildlife and even gave a pretty accurate marine bio lesson. Overall an excellent experience.
We have kayaked the backwaters of Assateague Island before and it was fun traveling the same waters in the ferry. We saw wild horses (ofcourse at a li'l distance- they are meant to be wild) and lots of marine life, on and off board. I definitely recommend it for families with kids.
Tip : look for online coupons. We got 2$ off.

We really enjoyed this boat ride. it takes you from Ocean City to Assateague and you spend about 15 minutes on the island using little nets to capture small ocean animals/fish. We saw some cool ponies and it was fun. he price was reasonable and it was about 60 minutes which worked out great because we didn't want to spend hours doing something.
