We recenlty visited the Lankford Hotel in Ocean City to attend our son's retirement from the Coast Guard. The hotel was excellent. Mary and her staff were superb. Location was wonderful. Thanks very much!

Hotel is in a nice location close to all the major hubs around, location is safe for a traveller. Rooms are nice and had lot of space in it. Bathroom was also good. But the room they gave me didn’t had a nice view. Food served was great. Hotel is recommended. Only problem that I had was WIFI which wasn’t working here.

Room Tip: nice rooms view like it

This amazingly young 90 year old hotel represents what Ocean City is all about. It has all the charm of Ocean City's yesteryear's and the location of all the the fun and exciting experiences of the Ocean City of today . The rooms are spotless and charming . The owners are in the process of updating the some of the rooms which only adds to the draw to this hotel. There are no fancy amenities only the beautiful beach and an outstanding location . I cannot say enough about the staff . Mary and Sarah and their families really make you feel like you are part of their family. So if you are looking for a clean charming place in Ocean City to stay and enjoy the beach, The Lankford Hotel would love to welcome you to their "family".

For many years hotels such as the Lankford lined the boards in OC, full of genteel ladies down for the summer and their children who anxiously awaited the weekend arrival of the men folk from Baltimore and D.C.
Alas those days are gone but the Lankford "maintains standards" and gives a taste of that time. The rooms are small but comfortable, and the porches are great for people watching and the upper levels are an excellent example of what people did to stay cool before AC. Beach access is superb although be aware that OC limits traditional surfboards to two beaches per day (rotating system based on the access streets) so you might want to bring a sponge or mat if you are planning on simply walking out the door, and catching some waves, after the guards pack (@6) it in it's all play, and the beaches are uncrowded.

I can't say enough about how great this place is. What a great value for being on the Boardwalk, with adequate self-parking to the rear. Staff was friendly and helpful. The entire 90-year-old hotel was spotless and smelled only of Thrasher's fries nearby. Reminded me of my grandma's house but by the ocean. Things that might bother some people (not me): window unit AC, funny little shower that was actually a pipe sticking out of the wall at a low height, an actual metal door key, and lack of an elevator. Yes, prepare to walk up full flights of stairs to access your room. But it was all so clean, pretty, and SO quiet although fully packed with people at the peak of vacation season. The Family running this place, and their guests, are nothing but quality folk. No rowdy student groups or inappropriate drunks here. No sterile environment from corporate offices, either. Just vintage charm.

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms on second floor will not be terribly private, since your window opens onto a common-area porch. Sunshine will also stream in most mornings. There is a small pool on an adjacent property to the rear of the hotel, and if swimmers are noisy, a rear room occupant will hear that. Bring your own toiletries and hair dryer.
