“Have to make this an annual trip!”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

We just returned from Hilton in Ocean City and really loved this hotel. The rooms are very clean and spacious. If you have children a good place to stay would be on the 1st floor across from the children's pool. Having one of these rooms is key. It allows you access to your room from the pool without having to go into the lobby or an elevator.

Each day the lobby is stocked with a big beautiful fruit basket which I thought was a great touch. There are laundry rooms on each floor with 2 washers and 1 dryer. The front desk will give you detergent for free. The service was also great. Our screen door to the balcony broke while there and within 10 mins a maintenance man was at my room to fix it. The hotel restaurant was a little pricey but the breakfast was very good. Lunch was ok except for the buffalo chicken wrap.. don't get it.

One of my downfalls with the hotel is the parking. We went out on a Sat night and decided to drive and when we returned had trouble finding a spot on the hotel grounds. Also, when we checked in all guest were given a wrist bracelet to enter the pool. The staff at the pool does not check for bracelets and I'm sure there are people at the pool that are not hotel guests.

The childrens pool is really nice but not heated. At times it can be cold, especially in the afternoon because the hotel blocks the sun and part of the pool is shaded for most of the afternoon. If you have small children you need to especially careful with the lazy river. The pool has a lazy river that goes half way around the pool. For a children's pool the current is really really strong. While there 5 days I noticed 2 children getting pushed by the current into a rope which can be very dangerous so please watch your children.

Access to the beach is easy from the pool and main lobby.

Room Tip: If you have children try to get a room on the 1st floor across from children's pool.

This is a very below average hotel and not worth the price some people must pay. Luckily, we were staying with reward points. I was shocked when I walked into the suite. The decor in the suite was not nice at all, nothing like you would expect from a Hilton. There was a small sitting area. It was dark and dingy looking. The sofabed was very well worn and just plain ugly. My son said it was horrible to sleep on. The other beds were comfortable enough, but our floor was soaking wet in that area. I don't know if they had cleaned part of the carpeting there or if there was a water leak. You had to keep your shoes on at all times in there.

The bathroom was equipped with a shower that came straight down like rain. You couldn't adjust it and it did not have much water pressure. It was very hard to rinse soap and shampoo off.

The children's pool had one thing that bothered me as soon as I saw it... two fake palm trees right where the children come down and exit the water slide. It seemed a dumb place to locate them. I was right. I saw one mother waiting for her child to come down (just as many other parents had done) and a girl about 10 years old came down fast and slid across into her. The hit took her under the water and she came up holding her head. I went and asked her if she needed help. She was very shaken and said she hit her head pretty hard on that palm tree. Had she been knocked unconscious, or been a child it could have been worse.

Only book here if you are getting it for free. There are much nicer rooms for less money.

We checked into the Hilton last minute after a problem with our first hotel and they were very accommodating to us. We ended up with the best room in the hotel! Loved the balcony over looking the ocean!

Not worth the money. Room charge was as if you are staying in an exotic destination. Alcoholic drinking in close proximity of children cheapened the experience. Food just average. Barefoot guests in the lobby was a turnoff. Pull out mat tree for a family of six was terrible on the back. Rooms very clean, nice view of beach, bathrooms well stocked and taken care of.

Stayed here a few weeks ago with the family on points. Great hotel on the beach in Ocean City. Kids have a ton of fun in the "Kids" pool that has slides, whirlpool and a current. This hotel just $500+ during the high season or will now cost you 80K points per night under the new Hilton points scheme. On points its a great deal, if I had to pay real $, I don't think we'd make the trip as there are many places closer to us (we have a 6+ drive to get to Ocean City) for that type of $. Some things to know: Hotel pools face east, so the pools are fully shaded by around 3:30-4:00pm (kids are tired by that point anyway); Pool bar closes at 5:00pm; Buffet breakfast is a bit pricey at $20+ a head for adults; Walking distance to Anthony's Beer and Wine which has a great selection of everything, including a very good Deli with awesome sandwiches. Overall, this is a great place for 3-4 night vacation with the kids.

This was our fifth stay at the Hilton in OCMD. We started going when our twins were 2 years old, now they are 7 and we added a 1 year old to the family. We are Hilton Diamond reward members and booked the hotel prior to the point increase which is more than double the amount now.

Hotel:
Time for a renovation, it has been open now 10 years and rooms are definitely showing signs of age. Granted housekeeping did a great job in keeping our room nice and clean, which I am sure is difficult given the sand from the beach.

Check-in\Check-out:
We were there right out 3:05 PM and our room wasn't ready, which was a real bummer since we were exhausted from the drive down from NY and wanted to get everything up to our room. They tried to make it right with two free drink coupons and a free movie, but I would have rather been in the room. Had to wait a good 45 minutes, which doesn't sound like a lot, but with three exhausted kids it wasn't the best. Check-out was easy, granted they didn't allow for a late check-out request.

Perqs:
Many of the guests at this hotel use points, as we did. The price of the hotel per night is close to $600.00 which is silly money for this hotel. Typically at any Hilton property we are always upgraded given our HHonors status, but have never been upgraded at this hotel. They did provide breakfast vouchers, 2 for each night stay, which equals $9.50 each. We used them for room service. They also provided two bottles of water and cookies.

Location:
By far the best part of the hotel, literally steps from the beach situated on 32nd St. Easy to get to many of OCMD attractions.

Pools:
Same as every year and same disappointment with the lifeguards at the kiddie pool. Seem more interested in a tan than actually watching the kids. Overall the waitress service was excellent, although I did have an issue with one of the bartenders at the other pool, sat there for 10 minutes as she was texting on her iPhone, rather annoying.

Summary:
Overall the hotel was great, but as I have mentioned before some competition would be perfect. The Hilton is the only "high-end" hotel in OCMD. Charging $600 a night or 80,000 points is obscene, but they continue to sell out every summer and I am sure we will be down there next year.

Room Tip: I always opt for a high floor room given the noise from the pool.

Most beach hotels in Ocean City aren't that great, but this one is! The rooms are clean and all face the ocean. The best part about the hotel is it has two nice pools. One with a swim up bar for an adult atmosphere. The only downside is the room smelled slightly of vegetables, something weird was coming through the AC vent. They tried to make it better, but it continued. I doubt that is happening to all rooms.
