“Excellent Food and Ambience”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

We were staying in Oxford, MD and read that the Pope's Tavern Inn was a great place to dine. We made a reservation for 7pm. You had the option of being picked up by a antique looking (1930's) car, which was a very novel attraction. We walked instead. In short, the dinner and service were excellent. I had the seared tuna and my wife had the fillet mignon. Both were outstanding. Good wine selection as well. Would definitely recommend anyone visiting the area to make this one of their dining stops.

Fabulous food, friendly wait staff, great atmosphere. The chef definitely has a handle on the use of herbs and sauces.

“THIS IS THE CLASSIC CHESAPEAKE....”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

I accidentally posted this review on the wrong restaurant. At Pope's Tavern in May, ambiance was lovely in this quaint Inn. Service was impeccable and the were very eager to please. Mezzo platter to start was very tasty and plenty foe two to share. Husband had the steak salad which was crisp and loaded with perfectly cooked meat. Skate dinner was good (although I discovered I don't really like skate) and served with fresh sautéed garlic spinach and a yummy potato gratin. For dessert we selected the special cake with raspberry coulis. When the waitress asked, we told her the cake was dry and she quickly offered to bring us something else. We told her the flavors were lovely so we would eat it anyway. Proprietors Dan and Lisa (the chef) were very friendly and full of fun and made us feel right at home. We will be back!
