“Fabulous weekend in a stunning hotel”
Reviewed 11 February 2013

I have just had a two night weekend break, dinner, bed and breakfast tariff with my boyfriend. We arrived here, to a stunning georgian building, in lovely grounds with easy access to walks and the coast.
On arrival we were politely greeted by Debbie, who checked us in and showed us to room 8, a house room, second floor at the back with views of the gardens. Stunningly decorated, with black ornate furniture, a feature wall, beautiful dressing table and a whacking great big tv (fab for rugby) with all the in room facilities we needed.
The restaurant, Conqueror Inn, where we ate both nights, had a relaxing classy atmosphere, with open log fire, whether you dressed up or down for dinner, we still fitted in. Locals love it too, so make sure you book your table. The food is outstanding, served by knowledgeable, helpful bar and waiting staff. All meals were cooked to perfection, the rib-eye steak tender and juicy, the chicken with a fantastic garlic sauce was so tasty. And oh my god have the honeycombe cheesecake for pud, it was devine. I loved it so much the staff asked the chef and gave me the recipe. The second night I went for the Hampshire pork chop, it was huge and moist. My boyfriend had the lamb which melted in his mouth. Fantastic presentation to match the taste.
We both had fun in the bar both nights after dinner. Residents 2am close at the bar.
And breakfast, wow, full english, croissant, cereal, juices. The pork sausages were local and excellent, thick bacon, black pudding, mushroom, tomato, beans and toast. Or for the smaller tummy, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs plus other options.
All in all I can not fault this hotel. It was a perfect weekend break in fabulous surroundings, the staff made our stay, thanks to Patrick, Debbie, Kirsty, Mark and there's another guy from the bar whose name escapes me, but they couldn't do enough for us.
We shall definitely be back with a few friends, as this is great for a couples getaway and certainly value for money.

Just had a mid-week break in the new forest, staying at the Eastclose hotel which is ideally situated for exploring the new forest and the south coast area, from Boscombe down to Swanage. Set in extensive grounds the beautiful Georgian property has been recently refurbished to a high standard with a modern twist. The bedroom was large and very comfortable and downstairs the large leather settees in front of a real log fire were a pleasure to relax in with a pre-dinner drink. The food was both cooked and presented to a high standard and tasted delicious. The staff were smart, very friendly and attentive to our needs. Will certainly stay again.

It is difficult to find good quailty pet friendly accomodation but East Close does not disappoint. We just spent a fabulous weekend at East Close on a Dinner Bed and Breakfast deal . We have two dogs and although it is only the smaller Conqueror rooms above the restaurant that are pet friendly we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and quality of the room. The rooms in the main hotel look fantastic much larger and beautfifully decorated.

All the hotel staff were fantastic we had excellent service throughout our stay, the food was great, breakfast cooked to order using good quality ingredients. Good restaurant menu with a good choice of reasonably priced wines. Nice atmosphere in both the bar and restaurant great decor and furnishing without being too pretentious.

East Close is well located for exploring both the New Forest and the coast. I'd highly recommend a visit to this lovely hotel.

Beautiful hotel, very welcoming restaurant and a bar with a log fire, plenty of comfortable places to relax and spend your afternoon drinking wine and eating lovely food. The Hotel has some fabulous surroundings, apparently an inspiration to the Alice in Wonderland novel. The staff were attentive and polite (although I felt sorry for the girl at the breakfast as she was on her own and struggling with the orders) also the breakfast could have had more fresh options and an option to have a proper coffee not one from the container.

The room we had which was room no 4 was FAB! The Hotel is full of character and boutique deco, the old mixes with the new which gives it a very interesting look. Will definitely be back. Would love to see more locally sourced food and more seasonal menu, but in overall a great place to stay and would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms at the main hotel if you do not mind hearing a car or two drive by.

My husband & I got married at the East Close in December 2012 & we could not have received a warmer, more relaxed but thoroughly organised wedding experience!! Several friends & family stayed at the East Close & the Conquerors Inn for the days surrounding the wedding & all, without exception, had a wonderful time! The house rooms are exquisite & the Conqueror rooms are exceptional value. The location is delightfully close to bustling towns like Christchurch & Bournemouth, as well as New Forest villages such as Beaulieu & Lyndhurst...what a perfect combination!!

As for our wedding...well, we had wonderfully supportive staff throughout the planning process who were above accommodating for all our little touches & changes along the way. The day itself went without a hitch & the venue created such a relaxed ambience that it really was a magically intimate service & reception! The food was absolutely delicious...& plenty of it! Every single one of our guests, when commenting on how much they enjoyed the day, mentioned the venue's beauty & style!!

Thank you to everyone at the East Close for all the help, patience & kindness that you showed us & our families. You truly created the perfect day for us to say 'I Do'!!

We went to this restaurant 24th January 2013. We haven't had a meal here for some years but we are shortly to be moving to Highcliffe, Christchurch and thought we'd try it out. We loved it - a real fire, comfy sofas whilst we had a pre dinner drink and looked at the menu,. The decor is comfortable - just lovely. The staff were very attentive and we each had a superb 3 course meal, my main course was a rib eye steak, my husband had slow cooked shoulder of lamb (I had a taste). Lovely!! The presentation was first class and it is the little touches which make a difference. We had our coffee sat back in a comfy settee in front of the fire. We shall definitely be coming again. Can really recommend this restaurant.

Maureen
