Our only regret is we only had one night to stay. This B&B is far too special to not stay longer.

We recently spent one night at the River Gem B&B while on our way to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to attend a wedding. Mona and her daughter Aurora could not have been more welcoming and expert hosts. From the time we arrived they made us feel like family.

The home is simply exquisite. Every room is beautifully appointed. You cannot go wrong with a bedroom. Beyond what you would ordinarily expect in a B&B, they provide home made soaps and slippers. The salon and dining area are very special as well. We wanted to spend hours unwinding in the salon on the large sofas and overstuffed chairs, pouring over the many interesting books, including lots of local information, but alas only had a couple of hours.

The five course breakfast was beyond anything we have ever experienced, and we've traveled fairly extensively. Although I think they were surprised that we finished it all! The homemade pain au chocolat, yogurt / granola parfait and breakfast burrito with chorizo each were simply delicious. Wonderful teas and coffee....I could go on and on.

It also bears noting that Mona and her daughters are clearly devoted to this Inn and the surrounding community. We were delighted to support a family and a business that is so committed to making an impact on the town.

I stayed for about 20 nights at the River Gem while on business in the area. That was 20 nights where I didn't have to stay in a crummy hotel that sits in a location that looks like a generic "anywhere, USA"...what a relief. Pocomoke City is in an out-of-the-way place, but if one needs to stay in the area, you would be short changing yourself if you didn't stay here. Mona and Aurora fussed over me daily and could't have been more welcoming or gracious. The only down side is that 20 of their breakfasts will have its effect when you step on the scale after your trip!
I'll be back...

I don't know why anyone would stay in a hotel if this BnB were an option. Very comfortable, hospitable, and an absolute yummy breakfast! The owner was very attentive to our needs and very friendly. My family stayed in 2 rooms to attend the Physical Therapy graduation ceremony at UMES.

This is a wonderful place to stay, and the dining advice was excellent. Pleasant and friendly innkeepers, delicious breakfast (a little large for those of us who have late-rising stomachs!), Very relaxing.

The River Gem alone is worth the visit to Pocomoke City. We came down as a last-minute babymoon before we popped out a kid. Mona, Aurora, and Violet made the trip fun and memorable.

We stayed in the Sapphire room -- roomy and comfortable, even with a pregnant wife! The food was delicious and we were made welcome every minute. The handmade soaps were also a cool little treat.

The River Gem provides better service and more comfort than any chain hotel in the area. Do yourself a favor and stay here. We will be back!

My mom and I stopped here overnight on our way to the Outer Banks. I was so so lucky to have found this wonderful place. Mona and her girls have not forgotten one thing for your stay- all your whims are taken care of. Bfast was truly amazing like so many others have said. We stayed in the Ruby room which was spacious and cozy. We hope we will find an excuse to be able to stay at this top notch B&B again some day soon.

We were looking for a place to stay to explore Pocomoke City and the surrounding area and found this lovely B&B. Our room was comfortable, the decor is elegant, the owners are gracious and helpful and breakfast was delicious. You can hang out in the parlor or on the Victorian porch, complete with rocking chairs and a porch swing. The house has lots of delightful details - don't miss the wind-up salt and pepper shakers! It is walking distance from the Pocomoke River, with a park, boardwalk and nature trail, an interesting museum and Pocomoke City's small downtown area. Being able to go places without having to drive is a definite plus for us! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If you don't mind sharing a bathroom, the Garnet room is a very good value.
