“Lovely, untouched "get away from it all" place!”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

While visiting St. Michael's, Maryland, our family made the 'road-less-traveled' trip to Tilghman Island for the day. While one visitor remarked 'there's not much to do unless you like to fish,' keep in mind that's exactly the reason others may love this quaint, still untouched by progress place. You can make the drive to the furthest point of land and be surrounded by the ocean in front of you and a bird sanctuary to the rear! Select an out-of-the-way shop for a pop or relax with a bloody mary by an authentic drawbridge as the sun goes down and artists capture the pelicans and wildlife around the river. Overall, Tilghman Island is an experience you should have...even if it's only for a few hours.

“Oyster Heaven”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

We recently visited the island on Tilghman Day which falls on the 3rd Saturday in October. This is an annual event to raise money for the fire house. If you love oysters, crab cakes and assorted sea food specialties this is the place. We witnessed various events such as anchor tossing, oyster shucking, boating contests, etc. while enjoying some of the worlds freshest and tastiest oysters. People were friendly and the local band was just outstanding. Couldn't see everything we wanted in a single visit so we will definitely will return next year.

“Phillips Wharf Environmental Center”
Reviewed 16 September 2013

While on Tilgman Island don't miss Phillips Wharf Environmental Center. Where else can you dip your hand in an oyster tank or pet a puffer puff! Lots of interesting live displays including oyters, puffer fish, horseshoe crabs and turtles. Picturesque setting right on the water not too far from the drawbridge.

“Beautiful but limited activities”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

Stayed for two nights on Tilghman Island on a week long vacation through the Delmarva peninsula. I wished we had only stayed for 1 night. The views of the Bay are beautiful and it is nice to just sit and relax, but there isn't much else to do on Tilghman, unless you are into fishing. There are I think about 3 restaurants on the Island, a general store and a number of marinas. The southern end has a large open area right on the bay, so you can park and just look. We tried to hike on the Black Walnut State Park, but the trail was overgrown with grasses, and there were lots of mosquitoes and poison ivy on the path. Again, absolutely beautiful location, but limited activities.

“Beautiful Gem”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

Typical Eastern Shore town which harkens back several decades. What a delight to see all the working watermen and boats. it was a visit to my childhood. Time locked in the best way.
