We booked a sail on the H.M. Krentz on a trip to Cambridge. Our family of 9 couldn't have been happier with the experience. Our captian, the owner of this oyster sailing vessel was a wealth of exciting history and fishing knowledge and provided us with a great day on the Chesapeake.

You have to book online in advance and it is not cheap but you will love it!

We arrived in St. Michaels just before noon. Decided to take the 2pm Sailing as the winds were really great. Captain Ed provided so much information about the Chesapeake history, the skipjack and oyster farming. I would highly recommend this attraction, and look for the "winds".

We sailed with Capt. Ed and had a really good time. It was the highlight of our trip to St. Michaels. We are from the Gulf Coast of Texas and have eaten oysters all our life, but never knew anything about them or how they were caught. Capt. Ed has been oystering for over 20 years and he knows the waters like the back of his hand. We got a real education along with a smooth sail. His prices are very reasonable; a lot cheaper than other charters. If you enjoy yourself, don't forget to show it with a tip. Capt. Ed didn't mention gratuities to his customers, but we gave him one. He deserved it.

We took the 6-8 sail on Saturday night. The captain is a wealth of information and happy to answer any questions you may have. If you are looking for a nice relaxing sailing trip this is it. You will not regret it. You are able to bring drinks and snacks on board. We cannot wait to go back and will again take a sailing on the Krentz.

Capt. Ed is a one of a kind and his ship is a dying breed. Take advantage of a cruise while he is still doing this. He will give you an excellent historical and ecological lesson on The Bay in a nutshell. We took a few corporate cruises with large groups and they were fun. Spring and Fall are best when you have the best chance for wind. I miss The Bay since moving away!
