Tarr House B&B

Reviewed 17 December 2013

My wife and I stayed at the Tarr house for our 25th wedding anniversary at the beginning of December. The location is near the main street making all destinations for shopping and restaurants in walking distance. Parking was conveniently located directly across the street and it was free. Bonnie, the Innkeeper/Owner was delightful on the phone when we made the reservations. Her daughter, Laura met us in the evening and escorted us to our room which was a large room on the second floor. The bed was large and comfortable. Downstairs had a sitting room to read and lounge in but our bedroom was large enough and furnished well enough that we did not take advantage of the sitting room. The B&B had wireless but did not have televisions which was great for us. Laura and her Husband met us in the morning for breakfast which was fresh breads, fresh fruit and the best "French Bread, French Toast" my wife and I have ever had. The Inn was fantastic, very affordable and I would highly recommend to anyone! Thanks to Bonnie, Laura, Mark and the Tarr House!

Room Tip: Small B&B, only two rooms, both are very private.

My wife and I were in St. Michaels in early November and spent one night at the Tarr House Bed and Breakfast. It is on a quiet street a just a few steps from town and the bay. It is priced well, and the breakfast was very good. Our upstairs room was small and there was no TV. My only negative comment was the bathroom. It was very small, and the toilet is tucked under the A-frame ceiling. If you are a guy, this just doesn't work. The tub is a cute claw-foot cast iron type, but it's only about four feet long, so if you are average size guy, this doesn't work either. There is no shower. Although clean and cute, our stay at the Tarr a House was just not very comfortable for me.

We returned to the Tarr House and had the other of 2 bedrooms than we had before. Again it was charming and so comfortable - a trip back in history. The breakfast was delicious. Our hostess was so wonderful. The location is perfect for visiting St. Michaels -- you can walk everywhere from the Tarr House.

If you want a peaceful and quiet getaway with a feel of the 1600s, this is the place for you.
The beds are comfortable, and they serve a delicious warm breakfast every morning.
All the nice attractions are just a stone's throw away.

We stayed here on a trip to St. Michaels Maryland and it was a perfect choice. It is small - only 2 rooms. But both are beautifully decorated and the bed was soooo comfortable. The original house dates back to the 1600's and is charming. Bonnie is a superb innkeeper. The full breakfasts were delicious in a charming dining room and Bonnie is so helpful with local information and places to go. The Tarr House is near the water and the marina by a small park in St. Michaels. It is the perfect place to have your morning coffee or just watch the sunset on a park bench. The location makes it possible to easily walk to everything. We loved every minute of our visit in such a delightful place.

I stayed here in July, 2010. Perfect location because it is very close to the harbor and one block off the main street which keeps it quiet. I came by boat so it was important to be able to walk to everything. Nice waterfront park right out the front door. 5 minute walk to maritime museum. Room was very nice. I like historical properties. Huge bed and room with nice touches to make you feel at home. Bonnie made a great breakfast and made my stay comfortable. Will definitely consider going back.

We chose this place for a quick trip and we were glad we did. Bonnie was a perfect hostess and makes a great breakfast. Our room had a very comfortable king size bed and was tucked away into the eaves in a most creative way. The room was a little tricky to navigate at times so beware if you are tall.

If you want some privacy and some quiet this is a great place as there is only one other room and the innkeeper is very mindful of keeping things private.

Overall a super stay and we will go back and hopefully have more time.
