“Scenic Location; Room needs makeover”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

Harbourtowne is in a scenic location, with motel and cottage-type rooms within a stone's throw of the bay. Ours was one of the cottage types (building 5) away from the main buildings. The room was quiet and had a great view of the bay, enjoyed from both a small veranda or nearby chairs along the sea wall. The room, however, needed a makeover. There was a bothersome musty smell, perhaps from old drapes, the carpeting, or both. I recognize that this unit was close to the water and some dampness is to be expected, but this condition went beyond. A small fridge and Keurig K-cup coffee maker are provided, but no safe.

Overall location is excellent and all rooms have a fantastic view.
Staff at the front desk needs more stamina and should be more gracious
and welcoming to the tired travelers.
Rooms need updating as this pulls down the overall rating of this property,
and the beds are old and not too comfy.
Internet reception is poor.
Breakfast area is very clean with a fantastic view, with excellent service staff .
We took the Golf package which was a good value.

Room Tip: Second floor is better

Green Features: They do emphasize the green policy. All rooms with balcony and the fresh air is a substitute to the air conditioner which we prefer.

We stayed there in May 2014. We got 3 ocean front rooms right next to each other. It was so beautiful and convenient. My one complaint was that they didn't have enough adirondack chairs around. We had to borrow some from other rooms that were empty. The hotel food was adequate, but the rooms and setting were just great. The golf course was very nice too.

Room Tip: We went in town for breakfast.

The hotel is beautiful, the views are amazing and the staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. They genuinely care about your experience and will do anything they can to ensure your comfort. The only thing I missed was a place on site to buy snacks and things like aspirin. But there are convenience stores a short drive away. The meeting space is a great spot for a meeting and even better, a wedding!

This is our second time to Harbourtowne - great for golfers - Our first time two years ago, I wrote TripAdvisor review regarding the 'unwelcoming' of the front desk...hoping our second time around it would have improved, but sadly it did not. This time we took two couples with us - they too felt unwelcome. It makes a big difference after driving for 4 hours to be welcomed and even a smile will make a very good impression. During our last day we had lunch the ProShop - there are two gentlemen in the ProShop who were SUPER: Nick and Kevin. These two should spread their charisma and professionalism to the front desk.

Stayed at this resort for Winefest. Once again the location is superb but the resort really needs updated. Our room was painted canary yellow and had awful old carpet. Right outside our room was a tank that had a flushing sound constantly, nice ambiance while trying to sit outside on the patio. I will say that the bathroom and beds were clean and that was most important. We had a power outage Sat morning that continued into the day so we were allowed to shower at the country club. That was only offered to us after we asked if we could move to another room. We were told that was not an option. I know it was not their fault that there was an electrical problem but we were told it has been an ongoing problem. All the staff was very apologetic however I feel we could have been compensated either by a reduction in our bill or a free breakfast. They just wanted us to deal with it. After all we were in town to support an event for the town of St Michael's. And it is not cheap to stay there. We will not return unless the resort does some upgrading.

Room Tip: Do not choose room 403. Annoying flushing water in underground outside container right outside patio...

We recently worked with Harbourtowne for a company retreat. We spent three days at Harbourtowne and took advantage of their meeting/banquet facilities, guest rooms, as well as bike rental. In the feedback we received, our team members universally loved the setting and accommodations at Harbourtowne. I found the event and banquet staff to be pleasant to work with and the pricing more than fair. They were more than happy to make creative last minute changes when the weather didn't cooperate with some of our outdoor plans.
The guest rooms were spacious- each room had a spectacular water view and mini-fridge. Some of us had vaulted ceilings and fireplaces complete with starter logs and matchbooks (perfect on the rainy night when we first arrived.) Parking is ample and free. The rooms are not overly modern or luxury; but, they have been updated and we found them to be clean, comfortable, and well-equipped- more than adequate for our needs.
The meeting space was excellently equipped and Harbourtowne provided fresh snacks and beverages in the room after each break period. The breakfast and luncheon food was average-- I recommend dining in St. Michael's for dinner because there are fantastic options. My only complaint is that we had major connectivity issues with wireless and internet access while on the property. The staff said this was because we are a Mac-based company. We had created web-based agendas and other information for our event that basically became useless once we were at Harbourtowne. For a business meeting, not having reliable internet access is kind of a drag.
While we didn't take advantage of golfing, we did rent bikes from Harbourtowne and enjoyed an hour's ride around the expansive residential property.
Overall, Harbourtowne is a lovely boutique hotel experience. I highly recommend it for a company meeting or get-away.

Thank you very much for your comments.

We are working diligently to fix the wireless internet problem we have been experiencing with Apple products. We hope to have this complete in the next few days.
