“Luxurious stay, beautiful setting”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

We had a lovely stay here. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable in every way. We were upgraded to a room with a view of the water which was very nice. Unfortunately there was construction right outside our window every morning starting at 9 which we had been warned about, so that was less than ideal, but at least they wait until 9. Perhaps that upgrade was meant to offset the inconvenience of the construction. Every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and provided excellent service. The grounds are pretty with beautiful gardens. Sitting in the adirondack chairs sipping wine by the bay was very peaceful. When we swam at 9am we had the pool to ourselves (it was a weekday). The breakfast in the restaurant was quite good. The hotel is walking distance to town, where we had breakfast the second morning - more basic, diner-type food at 1/3 the price. I can't really say if IPC is "worth" the price as some reviewers question. Is it twice as good as a hotel at half the price? Probably. IPC does everything it can to be a luxury hotel and succeeds quite well. If you are looking for a luxurious stay and a very quiet day or two in St. Michaels, I don't think you can go wrong at this hotel.

At the prices for the accommodations and food we were expecting an outstanding time at the Inn at Perry Cabin. The setting is lovely, on the river and our room (a studio) had a very nice view (although diminished by the TV which blocked the windows!) and a small private balcony. The room was nicely furnished and quite spacious, but with only one chair to sit in, and the bathroom was very luxurious -- double sinks, bathtub, shower and separate toilet space.) Beds were OK but linens were quite ordinary.
Check in was really unimpressive. The reservation clerk was curt and completely impersonal. No, "Welcome, to Perry Cabin. We are delighted you are with us." Completely impersonal as if we were checking into a two star hotel. We dined the first night at the restaurant, Stars, which overlooks the water and is nicely positioned on the property. It was incredibly noisy as they had a party of 12 at an adjoining table, who were very loud. Luckily, they left within the first hour we were there. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings and especially enjoyed the pairings. The food was good but not exceptional, which I would expect in a resort of this quality. Although we had reservations for the next two nights in Stars, we cancelled them and ate instead at 208 Talbot across the street, where we had two outstanding meals at half the price, and with very attentive staff.

We had massages at Linden Spa, which were outstanding. Therapists were great and very friendly. The pool is very nice, too, and a staff member did come over to take drink and food orders, but no one assisted with the umbrellas which were essential in the heat. We had to horse them around to get them to cover the lounges.
The question for me is always, "Would I come here again?" and the answer is no. Nice property, but does not meet the standards I would expect for the prices.

I have visited St Michael's, on Maryland's Eastern Shore, several times but had never stayed at The Inn at Perry Cabin until my daughter surprised me with a Mother/Daughter weekend this Mother's Day. What a treat! From the elegant lobby to the attentive staff, it was apparent from the moment we walked in that this was going to be a special weekend.

Our rooms, which were in the Garden Section of the hotel, were tastefully furnished with comfortable king-size beds, crisp linens, and piles of plump pillows. All of the amenities that would be expected from a first-class resort hotel were provided, including plush robes and premium toiletries. In addition, a bowl of apples, bottled water, and a full ice bucket awaited us upon check-in and were replenished regularly during our stay. Each room opened onto a private terrace - a nice setting for room-service breakfast or afternoon tea - which in turn opened onto a path leading through the hotel's magnificently planted gardens. Nightly turn-down service included freshly-baked cookies and slippers laid out by the bed.

Our first night, we had dinner in the pub, a casual eatery just outside the main restaurant. We were impressed by our server, who was attentive and personable, and the crab cakes we ordered at her suggestion were among the best I've had (and having grown up on the Chesapeake Bay, I'm a crab cake "purist"). Breakfast the next morning was a brunch buffet in the main restaurant, where we were seated at a table by a window overlooking the expansive front lawn and waterfront. Although the food was excellent, it appeared that the restaurant was understaffed, as it took a while to get the attention of a server to order beverages.

Although we didn't take advantage of them, the hotel provided bicycles for its guests to use to explore the grounds or visit the downtown area or the nearby maritime museum grounds. There is also a full-service spa and fitness center on the grounds for the use of hotel guests.

Based on this visit, I would recommend Belmond Inn at Perry Cabin to others, especially for special occasions such as anniversaries. It is pricey!

Room Tip: Garden Section rooms have private terraces and are pet friendly

The service is impeccable, the people nice and the surroundings amazing.
If you have been to St. Mikes and stayed in town, staying at the Inn will seem like you are miles away from any town.
The kayaking, the pool, bocci, the restaurant, the lounge, it was all fantastic.
We stayed in a waterfront suite and there was plenty of room. The bathroom was very large with a soaking tub and a walk in steam shower big enough for two.
The best part of our two night stay may have been just walking around the grounds along the waterfront or relaxing in two, of the many, Adirondack Chairs.
The Inn is a bit pricey but it was absolutely worth it.
We enjoyed a couples massage that was not on par with the massages at Five Gables Spa right down the street. It was a good massage, just not as pampering as Five Gables.

Room Tip: End suites are very roomy plus its easy to get out of the building without waking down long corridor...

We stayed two night at the Inn at Perry Cabin and this place is unreal. I felt so relaxed from the moment we stepped foot on the property until we left. This hotel is so relaxing and quiet and friendly. You can literally stay on the property the entire time and not get bored or travel to town, only minutes away, to shop or eat. The spa is fabulous! The pool is great and everyone is friendly to children!

I couldn't have been any happier with my stay. The grounds were impeccable, the rooms were comfortable (with great bed and shower), the food was great, the activities on site were ideal (kayaking, bocci, pool, smores, tea service....). If there was ever any issues the staff fixed it before we even recognized it as a problem. The property is super well kept with amazing landscaping and under fabulous management. I cannot wait to go back!!

Room Tip: We loved room 7! Corner unit with great water views.
