I showed up on a business trip and had stayed here the past few weeks before with no issues. Upon showing up after a long day of work and driving 3 hours, I was greeted by the front desk associate that was more concerned with the Monday night football game than checking me in properly. I was supposed to have a 2 night stay that was set up through my company's travel site and I had to pay up front.
First, there was a mix up with my choice rewards number that delayed check in, then the associate took and swiped my debit card to pay for the room. She told me my card was declined and proceeded to swipe it again. She again told me it was declined. After checking my account, there were 2 pending charges to the Comfort Inn and the front desk still insisted that I my card was declined, but at least one charge for a night was cleared.
I figured that once the day staff came in this problem would be resloved. I proceeded to the room and went to go get something to eat. I came back and went to sleep and woke up the next morning to take a shower when I realized the toilet was leaking and leaked all over the bathroom floor. After cleaning that up, I hopped in the shower only to see a roach on the shower curtain, the shower curtain rod was broken and there was a band aid stuck to the rod.
Since I had an 830 meeting, I overlooked these issues and proceeded to pack my bags as I had checked my bank account and still saw the extra charges pending. Combined with the uncleanliness of the room and the problems with the nights prior transaction, I decided that I would not waste any more of my time with this establishment.
I headed down the front desk where the receptionist was nice enough at first but then insisted that the hotel did not double charge me and then got indignant. She said that she was the accountant and that she know that there was no mistake on their end and that I didn't have enough money. I had my bank account pulled up on my phone and it clearly showed the 2 charges and she still insisted that they did not make a mistake. By this time, I was at my limit and I asked to see the manager. She replied back that he wouldn't be in for another half hour and smartly stated that I was being "evicted" from the premisis because I dare asked her to actually do her job and provide a service fo her customer.
After leaving and completing my meeting I promptly called the customer relations hotline only to be told that there was not a mix up, they can't view the billing and that I'll have to take it up with my bank. This it me is completely unsat and not the way I would expect to be treated considering I make a trip to this location weekly and will be making it for at least the next year. I've already notified my corporate travel (Concur) as to the treatment this location provides for its corporate customers and will be visiting every ratings site to re-tell this abysimal display of customer service.
