“Nice hotel; NO WIFI IN THE ROOMS!!!!!!”
Reviewed 3 September 2011

Great hotel that seems fairly new or recently renovated. Only gripe is while they do have a wired connection for Internet access in the room, the only WIFI is in the Main Lobby and not in the guest rooms. You would think that a hotel of this caliber would provide this "creature comfort" for customers with smart phones or Ipads. Otherwise, nice hotel and great stay!

This is a standard Residence Inn. It's not a bad place to stay while visiting DC, if you have a car, as it's significantly less expensive than hotels a few miles away inside the beltway, and there's plenty of free parking.
The service was very average. There happened to be several trucks parked there overnight, and I don't know if that's the norm.
It's very convenient to FDA's new headquarters, and I assume that's where they'll get a bunch of business.
It's clean, and perfectly fine for a place to stay.

Spent 2 weeks here for work. Dated hotel, furniture is worn out. Clientele is mostly construction workers and short term stays. Evening meals/appetizers are the worst I've ever had at a Residence Inn. Half the time they run out of food and the other half it isn't what they say it is going to be. Also, most Residence Inn's serve wine and beer but they don't. Tables are dirty, windows are dirty. There was an inch of dust on my refrigerator. Walls are thin also. I could hear the person next door close the microwave door. Police have been here for patrons causing hotel damage. There is is also a night security man that comes in after dark to watch the back patio area and local kids use the basketball court. I had to ask for them to clean the tables for dinner and was handed a rag and spray bottle. Also, they are charging $5 a page for a domestic fax but told me "you get a good price to stay here though".I would not stay here again, good price or not.

Stayed here one night March 2011. Overall, average Residence Inn and you can find better closer in to DC at same rate.

Check in: Asked check in lady to be upgraded from a studio and was promptly advised by manager "we don't do upgrades here". (Gold membership status apparantly did not matter). Also promptly advised that wireless internet service not working (and it did not for duration of stay).

Rooms: Best described as tired. Kitchens were nice but rest of furniture seen some use/abuse. Couch looked "lived on". One old tube TV (not what you expect in a hotel charging $200+ per night). Carpet in rooms/hallways/elevators due for replacement. Elevators slow and creaky. Room/hallway a little drafty but ok if you crank heat.

Locale: Place did have plentiful free parking/Target right across street and is close to I 495 Beltway.

Breakfast: Was slightly above average and not crowded.

Overall, you can do better at another location in area.

I stayed at the Silver Spring Residence Inn weekdays from 2/1 - 3/29/10.

The room was adequately sized with a bed, desk area, couch and table and a kitchen. The room was always clean and the housekeeping staff was always friendly.

They served a small dinner meal on weeknights that was usually pretty awful, but most of the guests seemed to like the food. Breakfast was complementary and consisted of hot and cold foods. They made the best oatmeal (which sounds simple to make, but can be screwed up easily.)

The front desk staff was always helpful in most normal circumstances. I was there for the huge snowstorm (They got about 3 feet of snow.) It was not pleasant. Most of the staff could not get in, and the exterior of the hotel was not shoveled for a couple of days. They were very apologetic, and did what they could for me.

I had to move to the Courtyard Marriott because they hard a large group coming into the hotel when my business was suddenly extended. I thought I would miss the hotel, but the Courtyard was just as nice, and was closer to work.

Overall ... this was a standard Residence Inn ... clean, friendly and comfortable.

I stayed here for a couple weeks this summer, and this was a great Residence Inn. Very clean and well maintained. It is relatively new, and in a decent location. Beds are pretty good, and there's a shopping center with a Target and Chipotle, Starbucks, McDonalds, etc. across the street. My one gripe would be that the computers in the business center are really old and not functioning well. I wanted to print something and ended up having to take it to the front desk to have them print it because the computers in the business center didn't work. It may be a bit far out from DC, but if your destination is MD, then I recommend this Residence Inn.

Stayed for 4 nights on a family trip to DC with 2 younger kids. I like to stay at Residence Inn when I'm travelling on business because they usually have very spacious room suites, so I chose this one near DC for a family vacation for the same reason. While the hotel was clean and the decor was current, I was disappointed in the size of the room. The room was as a whole smaller than a standard size hotel room, then divided into 2 parts; the bedroom, and the living room/kitchenette, which made it very cramped. If this was a normal hotel I wouldn't have had an issue, but these are suppossed to be suites with more room, and I was paying more for that space. The room was so cramped you could barely get around the bedroom, as the queen size bed took up all the space in the bedroom. I suspect the building was originally designed as a Courtyard Marriott and converted into a Residence Inn; it has the same lobby floorplan as a Courtyard. If space isn't an issue for you, the hotel would be fine, if you're traveling with a family or like alot of space I would avoid it.
