“Perfect Inn for an Anniversary celebration”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013

We had a wonderful anniversary at this comfortable inn. We stayed on the first floor of the carriage house which was very private with a jacuzzi tub. The breakfasts were delicious and the owner shared the recipes! Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Either floor of the carriage house is nice.

So happy that you enjoyed your anniversary getaway. Please don't wait another year to visit. "Solomons Christmas Walk" is the first weekend in December. Helen

This attractively landscaped, pleasant and comfortable Victorian inn was perfect for our needs while we visited the Calvert Cliffs parks for a couple of days in October. The innkeepers were always helpful and knowledgeable, with many excellent suggestions of places to visit in the area. We were very impressed by the Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center and even more impressed by the Calvert Marine Museum. Our room, overlooking the harbor across the narrow street, was cozy and comfortable for two people and we enjoyed a good night's sleep. Breakfasts were delightful, on an enclosed porch overlooking a garden and a harbor. Thank you Helen and Richard!

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Since you enjoyed Annmarie Garden so much, you should consider coming to "Artsfest" next September. You can get info on their site.

We enjoyed a lovely fall weekend at this charming inn. Wonderful views, easy walking to a variety of restaurants and activities, and a delicious breakfast. Our room was spacious and had great amenities. I would definitely stay here again!

Last weekend my wife and I stayed at the Solomons Victorian Inn in Solomons, MD to celebrate our anniversary. Typically I chose the location and plaqce to stay when we go away for our anniversary but this time my wife decided to do the search work since an anniversary celebration is supposed to be for both members of the couple not just the wife.

She picked Solomons because i had a sailboat there in the 1970s & 80s and always liked the area. When she searched she found the Inn and it looked nice and was available even though there was not much time left as a cancellation had just come in making a room available. The Inn had gotten pretty good reviews on the internet with praise for the hospitality of the innkeepers and the breakfast.

My review rating could go a little higher but the breakfasts were nice, although not very creative compared to what we have experienced in other B & Bs elsewhere and the hospitality was limited. When we arrived on Friday afternoon an employee greeted us, while the Innkeeper sat at her desk off the entrance foyer in full view of us, but she never came out to introduce herself. We consider that poor hospitality! We did not see the husband, although we did see a man doing some maintenance work out in the parking area but he never lloked up when we got out of our car so we assumed he was another employee.

On Saturday morning at breakfast the innkeeper came around to the table and guests and introduced herself but it seemed as if it were as an obligation, without the warmth that innkeepers typicaly have, because it is an Inn and B&B and not a hotel. The breakfast was ok, but again not very creative.

On Sunday morning the breakfast was a little better, not bad, just not very creative. The man we saw in the parking area started the breakfast service, although he never introduced himself. He was plesant and we assumed from our discussion that he was he husband and therefore the other Innkeeper. The wife eventually came out and was a little more friendly and conversational.

What was the Inn itself like? Lovely! It was as its name says, Victorian, which we like. It was well and traditionally decorated, with names for some of the rooms of famous yachts that had been built at a long since disappeared yard in Solomons. One of the room names was the Manitou, a lovely 62' wooden ketch built in the late 1930's which eventually became JFK's private sailing yacht in the 1960s. The Inn had a wonderful book there, unfortunately long out of print, about the yard that built the Manitou and many other yachts and other vessels, that has also long since disappeared. It also had another wonderful book there titled " I Remember". It caught my eye becasue it was about the recollection of a local master ships carpenter, Pepper Langley, who I had met back when I had my boat in Solomons in the 1970 & 80s. He was the brother of Harry Lee Langley, who, when I had my boat there, owned and lived at the Langley Point Marina, now called the Solomons Yachting Center. Peper used to come over the the Marina and sit an talk about the area and its history, which I found fascinating. He was a very nice fellow and really interesting. He told me that he had worked on building the Manitou back in the 1930s. Reading his book confirmed that he had worked at the Davis yard that buitl the Manitou from 1936-39, when it was built.

The Inn's breakfast area is a climate controled glassed in porch, the end of which looks out over the harbor. There is also a living room with a limited library, but it is a comfortable sitting and reading room.

The Inn is located at the end of the penninsula in Somomons on the highest piint, looking over the picturesque harbor, with a nice farmers porch and yard also over looking the harbor with its boats, marinas, restaurants and shops, all of which are a few minutes walk from the Inn. Immediatly behind the Inn is the beginning of the Marine Biological Lab complex that is owned by the University of MD. and has an interesting visitor's center. The steet behind or in front of the lab complex, depending on how one looks at it, ends right on the water on the Pautuxent River, lookin accross to the Pautuxent River Naval Air Station and the mouth of the River, leading out into the Chesepeake Bay. Overal the location of the Inn is ideal for walking around and taking all of this in.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Inn and hope that the hospitality improves. Maybe the inkeeper was just having a bad day, as we all do from time to time. But an enjoyable Inn experience has a lot to do with great hospitality.

It was a pleasure having you here and are pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Solomons. It was especially nice talking to you about Solomons in the old days of Pepper Langley. This little village has seen so many changes and we enjoyed sharing stories with you both. Helen

The innkeeper was very helpful, and the room was clean and bright with a great shower. We were given a list of places to check out, and there were restaurant menus downstairs to help you plan where to go. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. We couldn't stay for breakfast, but it smelled great. We would stay here again if ever in town.

Very nice B&B located in the heart of Solomons, MD. This was our first trip here and we stayed at this B&B based on reviews we read here at TripAdvisor. Our room (Chesapeake Sunset) was very nice and spacious with a refrigerator, sitting area and a comfortable bed. The innkeeper, Helen, was fantastic! Her breakfast meals were outstanding and the service was as well. She gave us some excellent tips on dining and a visitor here would be wise to tttake her advice on such matters.

If we ever venture this way in the future I'm certain we will make plans to stay at Solomons Victorian Inn again.

My husband and I decided at the last minute to spend Labor Day weekend on Solomon's Island. Luckily for us, the inn still had rooms available. We stayed in a small room on the second floor with a nice view of the marina at Back Creek. Although the inn(and our room) is close to the road, it was very quiet and peaceful, and our room had everything we needed for personal comfort. The location is great, close enough to walk to several restaurants and the river walk along the Patuxent. Richard and Helen were gracious hosts, helpful yet unobtrusive.
