“Terrapin Nature Park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

Terrapin Park provides a wonderful view of the Bay Bridge and a beach area for true relaxation. Terrapin Park is one end of the Cross Island Trail as well.
A good staging area for the use of the Trail.
20 minutes from Annapolis...beach access....great views.
wonderful place to picnic.

“family friendly bike trail”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2013

this trail crosses over a main road way, so if you have younger children, you may want to limit how far you go on the trail, or walk your bikes a little.

“A nice place for access to the Chesapeake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

Many visitors to this area often complain about the lack of public access to the Chesapeake Bay. They have good reason, as when you think of all the thousands of miles of shoreline amongst all of its tributaries, this waterway surprisingly has a minimal amount of beaches available to the general public.

Well at least Tarrapin fills that gap and it's free. It really isn't that hard to find, and there is better signage now directing drivers to the park. The only draw back is that if you want to spend the day at the beach, a short hike is required to get there. Now the walk takes about 15 minutes, but if you are hauling coolers, umbrellas and other "stuff", then this trip will seem longer.

Once you park your vehicle, you go on the main paved path. Shortly, you will see a gravel path off to your left. This is the trail to take to the beach. Once you get there you should be able to find a nice spot on the long albeit narrow stretch of sand. Even during Labor Day weekend, we could still find an area that was vacant so we could play in the water with our chocolate lab.

There are a couple of port-a-pots available and plenty of garbage bins, though some lazy visitors still prefer to leave their messes on the beach. A shame. The views are great as the bay bridge serves as a backdrop for the open waters of the Chesapeake. It was definitely more buggy before hitting the beach, but you may want to bring along some spray just in case. Definitely a great place to relax and play with your dog if you have one.

“Hard to find”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2013

It was ok but we had a hard time finding it. The signs were not that good. We walked a long way and still never saw the water. The bugs were huge and on the attack.

“Great place to walk”

Nature trail which winds through the marsh, around a lake, and down the beach on the Bay. Great walking or jogging path.
