Big Bats has been a favorite for many years - especially their wings - but it is obvious things have changed recently and they are not all for the better.
The decor is fun, especially for a baseball fan, plenty of TVs to watch whatever sporting event you are interested in seeing. Restaurant and bar are both good size. Some parts of the restaurant are showing signs of age (ex - booths ripped and fixed with duct tape).
The menu has been updated; favorites like wings and crab dip are still there, added interesting items like flatbreads and a greek burger.
On our trip in Dec 2012, the food was simply average. My husband ordered hot wings; he said they had no flavor and they were served on a small plate with nowhere to leave the bones and without celery. Really, who serves wings without celery? My burger was cooked to order and very juicy, but it doesn't come with fries or any kind of side. Ordered the sweet potato fries - very glad to see them as an option - wish they were served seasoned with cinnamon and sugar. The iced tea was so weak it didn't taste different than the water.
Seems to us there must be a new owner or management that is working hard to cut costs. That's certainly understandable, but I don't think it should be noticeable to patrons.
