Sturgis Library, located in the oldest building housing a public Library in the country is noted for it's extensive research materials tracing families with roots or ties to Cape Cod. It also has a vast library on maritime history and the fishing and whaling industries that sustained the Cape's economy for several generations. With a large selections of books of all types, it also has video and DVD libraries, children's books and magazines and newspapers delivered daily. They present lecture series throughout the year and hold several events to raise funds. A great place to spend a rainy day in Barnstable.
