“Surf and Turf”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

On a wet, rainy February Friday my wife and I decided to try the Dolphin Restuarant in Barnstable. We had friend meet us there and preceded to have a great meal. Oysters on the half shell were sweet and delicious and, of course, fresh! My Surf and Turf was one of the best Ive ever had. Large succulent maine lobster tail perfectly prepared accompanyed by a petite 6oz filet mignon, also perfectly prepared. Friend had a veal piccata that was delicious but too much for one meal, she took it home. Wife had the scallops carbonara which were also perfectly prepared. Dessert followed as we shared a fruit crumble and bread pudding. Nice little wine list also availalable with after dinner drinks and coffees also available. Wait staff are knowledgeable and experienced. No need to tell them how to pace a meal as most have been working there for years. When in Barnstable you must try the Dolphin!

We enjoyed our lunch very much. We had baked scallops and baked scrod; both were fresh and excellent. Service was good; very friendly and pleasant staff. Ambience was terrific. We'll be back!!

“Duck hunt on Sandy Neck”
Reviewed 22 January 2014 via mobile

We out sea ducking off of Sandy Neck and came in thirsty and hungry. The Dolphin was open and welcomed all 8 of us..we were greeted by a gritty local hosted/waitress that whisked to the back of joint quickly as to not disturb the uppity broads having their afternoon hen meetings. The food was fantastic...the beer was cold...and the service was fast. We will be back.

“Old cape charm and great seafood!”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

My partner and I visited the Dolphin on the recommendation of our innkeeper. The welcome was warm, the locals welcoming and the food good. It is very traditional in feel with a truly VAST menu which was a challenge! We enjoyed the cream cheese and crackers which were a nice change from a bread basket. We started with scallops on butternut purée with maple glaze and pecans - delicious. Main was shrimp with oriental rice and vegetables for me and prime rib for my partner. Portions were huge - no room for pudding ! Service was excellent and friendly and prices good. We were out of season but it was busy and service was fast and efficient.

“Old Cape Cod...”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

If you enjoy Patti Page's "Old Cape Cod"...you're going to love the atmosphere at this eatery. My son and I had lunch there and we were very happy our meals. I had a scallop dish and my son had a steak taco dish, both off the daily specials menu. Very nice...

We arrived around noon and took our seats at the bar...which had one patron when we walked in. Within ten minutes...five or six locals came in and sat at the bar...and a conversation about the college football games of the day and point spreads ensued. Very colorful...in a good way.

The bartender was very friendly...and the food came out of the kitchen in a very timely manner. And the prices were very reasonable. If you in the Barnstable area...you should definitely stop in...and you'll find out what Patti Page was singing about...
