“Serene, Comfortable and Relaxing”
Reviewed 6 April 2013

Staying at the Jenkins Inn, feels like an extension of my own home. Warm, comfortable, relaxing and stress free. David and Joe always make us feel like family. We stay at least 2 times a year, for a period of 5 days each time. They always know our " likes " and are very accommodating. The high quality linens on the bed make for a restful sleep. Breakfast and dinner are superb!!! We always look forward to our trips out east. Looking forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice. Pet friendly also.

Have you ever walked into a B&B and felt it was your home away from home?
That's how my partner and I felt recently during our 4 night stay at this quaint historic Inn.
Only one word discribs their professionalizm, amenities and gourmet food - EXCELLENCE.
Innkeepers Joe and David went above and beyond to make sure our stay was very comfortable.
Thank you for wonderful experience.

Room Tip: All rooms are great and especially the Garden Room, which has windows looking into historic town cen...

When you stay at the Jenkins Inn have no agenda other than to relax and enjoy yourself. This is a jem of a place that has a great atmosphere. We arrived in Barre for a family function and drove past the Jenkins Inn. The exterior of this establishment blends in to the surrounding community and it is easy to miss. When you initially pull in to the driveway you feel like you are visiting someone's home. When you go inside to check in you will find that you are treated as such as well. This is David and Joseph's home and they treat everyone as guests. Joseph is the bartender and he makes an outstanding cosmopolitan. He goes out of his way to crush fresh limes for the drinks. They have a chair across from the fireplace that will make you feel like you can melt in to it. We were there in the summer but I can imagine if it was winter and the fireplace was burning it would be a special experience. There are other subtle things such as cable with all of the premium channels and WiFi. The room that we stayed in was equipped with air conditioning. Breakfast comes with most standard reservations and you will not be dissapointed. The french toast is excellent as is the scambled egg rolls. The only regret that I have is that we could not stay for dinner. If the breakfast that we ate is representative then the dinner must be out of this world. We really enjoyed our stay. Great job David and Joseph.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Jenkins Room and could not hear any road noise.

We chose this inn because of the location and the reviews on Trip Adviser. We were not disappointed! Joe and David have worked very hard to make your stay perfect. The inn is well decorated with a variety of items, without feeling cluttered. The food is excellent. Fresh, well prepared, with everything possible local and seasonal. The wine list is well thought out and nicely varied and reasonably priced. We stayed here on the first night of our trip to Canada and were so impressed we canceled our reservation elsewhere for the return trip and booked another night in the Garden View Room. One thing that wasn't clear to me at first on their website and we cleared up after a couple of emails-the restaurant is open to overnight guests even when they are closed to the general public. In fact, the full menu is available, including specials. We had the soft shell crabs. These guys rock! I would highy recommend this inn to anyone.

Room Tip: We found the garden room very pleasant and restful. Windows on three sides with views of their lovel...

We returned to the Jenkins Inn in June having stayed there slightly less than a year ago. At that time we found it to be a wonderful experience and posted a review to that effect.
On our last visit we stayed in the Jenkins room which was excellent in every aspect.
This time our three day stay in the Sunrise Suite was absolutely fantastic. My wife promptly labeled it the Bridal Suite. While there is every modern convenience in the suite it is well matched with the original decor and construction of the house. In the entire suite area there is tremendous attention to planning and detail . There are two balconies. The one in the bedroom has a view of the town square while the other in the "reading room" (my description- the Inn also has a large library) overlooks the beautiful garden. The bedroom has a gas fireplace. The bathroom is large, well stocked with toiletries and has a skylight. Breakfast in the large, bright dining room with its many windows that give full view of the garden is always a treat. While I enjoy trying different items on the menu but my wife never strays from her favorite -crepes stuffed with yogurt. There is also a morning newspaper in the room that is a great touch.
David and Joe are wonderful hosts. They shared a great deal of the history and happenings in Barre that we found fascinating. We hope to visit again in the near future.

The Jenkins Inn is the perfect place to go when you need to feel pampered. The owners Joe and David, always make you feel special. Meals at the Jenkins Inn are extraordinary! Make it a point to start your meal with some soup. You'll never be disappointed. Every meal is carefully created and presented with love. A perfect ending to your meal will come from a wide assortment of homemade desserts. The extensive assortment of tea is a perfect way to compliment your meal. Barre is home to one of the finest restaurants in Massachusetts!

We stayed at the Inn for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. David and Joe are perfect hosts and make you feel very welcome. The Inn is very quaint with an interesting décor, lots to check out in the common rooms. The porch seating over the garden is a very welcoming setting. We were fortunate to be able to indulge in both breakfast and dinner, the food was excellent and very high quality. We’ll definitely give the Inn high praises to our friends and will plan to book again when we are in the area
