“We were pleased with our first visit here.”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This is the first time we have visited this restaurant. We were prompted by the advice of friends and co-workers to give it a try. We tried it on Monday, Memorial day, for dinner. We called ahead and was told we didn't need a reservation as around 4:30 PM they were not yet that busy. We arrived and only waited a few minutes before being seated. We thought all the food was very good, the bread served was fresh, I got the chicken parmesan and a salad which was great, my other half got a combo plate of lasagna, meatballs, and eggplant chicken parmesan and he thought it was great. The average to not so good was the Italian wedding soup, it was just ok. The angel hair pasta that came on the side with the chicken parmesan was like noodles in pinkish red water. Not what I was expecting, but the chicken parmesan was so good it didn't bother me. However, for an Italian restaurant you would think they would be getting that right.
The waitress was a sweetheart. She was very efficient making sure we had what we needed when we needed it and without hovering over us. The restaurant is small but it is all open so it doesn't feel cramped. The location of this restaurant is in something of a strip mall arrangement and parking is reasonable but not so sure about when it gets real busy. The atmosphere is very family orientated and for couples. Their prices very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. Clearly a good choice if you want to take the family out for dinner. You won't leave bankrupt and everyone will be full. Overall, our experience was very good and we would go back and try it again.

“Good luncheon choices”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

Went here because of other Trip Advisor reviews. I got a salad with salmon. Asked what kind of lettuce they used. Was told mixed: iceberg and other. Well, it was mostly iceberg-the least nutritious of all lettuces. I picked out a third of the white leaves from the iceberg. The salmon was fine. We were offered one kind of bread only, white bread. Would have loved a dark or whole wheat choice. Another in our party got the pasta primavera and added one cut up sausage to it; the waitress was very accommodating. Service was fast an efficient. Restaurant was filled at lunch time. Luckily we had reservations and were seated right away. Great
ambiance.

The parking lot was dangerous. There were pot holes all over the place. Don't know who owns the lot - this is not the restaurant's fault.

“This will be our last visit”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

We have been going to Cafe Luigi for close to 20 years and have usually had a good experience, tonight was not one of them. We called ahead because previous experience has proven the wait would be long. We were told 20-25 minutes, this was great because we had a 20 minute drive from home to get there. When we got there and checked in we were told it shouldn't be much longer. To our disappointment, large parties walked in and asked how long the wait was, the hostess told them 1 1/2 hours only for the owner to come over and change it to 30 minutes when he saw one of the parties of 9 were going to leave. We stood around for another 20 minutes waiting for our name to be called, remember it was only a 20 minute wait when we called in 30 minutes before. As we waited to be called, the large party that walked in was taken by the manager and seated before those of us that had been waiting longer then our projected time. We finally got seated and ordered our food, same thing I have ordered for almost 20 years. The food came out and the pasta was horribly under cooked and the sauce was so watered down it wasnt even sticking to the noodles. We told our waitress about the watered down sauce and she agreed, it wasnt made correctly. She took our plates back to the kitchen where the owner was and asked him to correct the problem. I cant even explain how shocked I was to get the same food back but on a new plate without any liquid at all on my pasta, can you say dry and flavorless? If this is how the owner rectifies the problems with his restaurant and what is seen by the patrons, what is going on behind the scenes that we dont see? As much we have loved Cafe Luigi in the past, I think they have gone down hill drastically and not worth the aggravations.

“Excellent Italian food”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Was flying into Bedford for work and checked out TripAdvisor for local restaurants. Cafe Luigi had excellent reviews so we decided to stop in and give it a try. I can definitely say that the reviews were spot on. The meal was excellent and prices were very fair. We ordered stuffed mushrooms, fried calamari, a garden salad, the frutti de mare, chocolate mousse, and the cannolis. Everything that we had was delicious. The frutti de mare was full of seafood (lobster, scallops, and shrimp), and was unbelievably priced for the amount of seafood it contained. If I ever make it back to the Bedford area, I will definitely be returning to Cafe Luigi.
