“a cheap place to stay locally.”

We needed a place to stay for the night and were looking at cheap options. We were travelling with our small son. The motel is very clean, and has all the basic amenities. There were a swimming pool but it was closed. However, as we were there for less than 12 hours, this was fine for us. They are also pet friendly.
I recommend this place to a family looking to a cheap, yet very clean and well decorated, place to stay.

We made reservations to motel 6 in Braintree because of its vicinity to the T to Boston. We got in at night a day before our reservation. The staff at the front desk was kind and got us a room.
I noticed that there was a police squad parked outside with an officer, a comment I saw other guests mentioned, and I must say that it didn't make me feel safe. Neither was the sign on the door in our room which said to use the deadbolt.
When we got into our room the first thing that stood out was the bed cover which was filled with stains. When I lifted the cover I found more stains and hair on the pillowcases and sheets.
This was something I didn't expect and pretty much "broke" me.
My husband went back down to the reception and got new sheets.
Needless to say, we slept in our clothes and on our coats.
The shower had drainage problems.
In the morning we checked out and received a refund for the other two nights and 50 percent off our first night.

Motel 6 Braintree is located right next to the Braintree Metro station and offers free parking - two factors which should already count for three points if you're a budget traveler and have checked out the parking fees in Boston. In walking distance, you can furthermore find a small Deli, Chilli's, Dunkin's and a number of other food places.
We stayed in a room with two double beds and paid about 90 USD in a last minute deal, which is steep for a budget stay for two people but still a deal by Boston standards. The room was almost ridiculously spacious for a hotel, clean and looked newly renovated. It had a laminate floor which is very uncommon in the US and we definitely prefer over carpet. The room was furthermore equipped with a flat screen TV with HDMI, VGA and USB connector, so guests can play their own content no matter what device they have with them.

Unfortunately there was no fridge and they charge extra for WiFi, which is something that in my opinion is a big nono today.

We are a couple of guys travelling to Boston for football and to vsit the city without having to drive in the city. Hotels are very pricey in the Boston region and we were looking for a cheaper alternative, using it mainly to sleep and shower, using public transportation. So the location of the hotel right across the street from the red T line was just great. The intersection is very busy at times, but drivers were always very courteous.
Staff were friendly, helpfull and knowledgeable about the vincinity.
Cleanliness was so-so. Thick black hair on the shower wall ( I have salt & pepper hair, my friend is shaven) were constantly appearing. White sox did not stay white too long after walking on the tile floor. There was an awful smell in the room. First in smelled like someone had just smoked a cigarette in the room, but that smell was there every time we came back to our room. That mixed with the smell of a strong floral deodorant, we had to leave our door open for 10 min, to clean the air a bit. Can't imagine what it would be when it is colder outside.
I know this is not a 4 stars hotel, but no dresser in the room? We stayed there 5 nights, so we had to keep our clothes in our luggage the whole time. Not convenient at all. The room was spacious enough to have a dresser. Very small towels, and only two for the room. On two days we took two showers so we had to use a still damp towel the second shower time. There also should be some kind of small carpet leading to the bathroom, floor tends to be pretty cold to walk on with no shoes on.
Would I go back? Not so sure. For the price paid I would rate it "poor". Would definitly look for other alternatives even if it meant paying a little extra. Because here, it is the definition of "basic".

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quieter than on the busy road side for sure. That's what we asked after re...

For the price we paid we did not excpect much. We were travelling on a budget and just wanted a convenient place to stay for doing some sightseeing in Boston.
So location wise it was great. The street you have to cross to get to the T is not as busy as people say. And cars waited and let us cross. So that was not an issue.
It was a bit harder to cross teh street to get to the supermarket but it is managable. The supermarket is great. They are very friendly and helpful and they even have a microwave there so you can heat up food you just bought there.

So positive thing was that the room was big. And we felt safer than in other place because of the Police car parking outside at night.
What we did not like was the very long, thick black hair in our room. We are both blondes so I doubt it was ours. It was everywhere. On the floor, in the shower, in our bed. We were pretty sure the sheets had not been changed since there was hair everywhere. We were there for 2 nights. When we came back from Boston the secnd day the bed was made and we had new towels but the hair was still there. Plus breadcrumbs and dead spiders.
So if you want a clean place don't go here.
As I said we did not expect much but we did expect clean.

It is a shame since the rooms are nicely rennovated and very spacious.

Check in and Check out was ok. When we told her our room was dirty she just said that they were fully booked and we could leave but we still had to pay.

This motel is on the T which makes it an ideal choice for travellers without a car. However be careful, it is not really that accessible to the T - you have to cross a busy road with no crossing and climb over a wall. You have to do the same if you want to get to the convenience store.

More significant than dicing death with the traffic was the clear lack of personal safety you experience when staying here. The door has a big sign saying 'for your safety use the deadlock and the bolt' which is hardly a ringing endorsement BUT the most telling thing is the police car parked outside all night. I didn't know whether to feel safer because it was there or more vulnerable because it needed to be there.

I would not recommend this place to anyone, worse still families. I really didn't feel safe at any point leading to two poor night's sleep.

The room itself was also pretty poor. We were opriginally allocated a smoking room despite booking non-smoking but were then moved. The replacement room had hairs on the bathroom floor.

The staff were nice, although when we checked in the lady on the desk was pretty stressed with some guy in a room who was giving her verbal abuse and swearing at her (another sign of the quality of resident this place attracts?).

In summary I have stayed in more expensive places that have been far better value.

The motel was excatly what it described on the trip advisor website. The staff were really nice, the room was basic but clean (had everything we needed). It was close to the T (really close - 2min walk), and it took us only 15-20mins to get to central Boston. Opossite it was a convience store with an ATM. The wi-fi was extra but it was cheap, 2.99 for two days. We tested the laundry facilities, a bit out dated but if you need to use them it is nice they are there. One other great thing wa the free and spacious parking!
Only one thing that concerned me was that there was a police car parked every night on the parking. Maybe it was just the two days of that we were there, but it did make us feel a bit worried why it was there....
But overall a really nice experience, and I would recommend this motel to travellers on a budget!
