“Very Nice Course”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2013

Played here summer of 2013...course was in good shape and had some very difficult holes. Will definitely be playing this course again if I get back to the cape this summer. Pace of play was very good for a Saturday afternoon, didn't have a wait on any hole until the last few.

The only bad thing I would say about the course was that the starter had an attitude with our group of 3 because the people in front of us were late for their tee time pushing us back, but we still got the attitude.

The other thing was we did not see a drink cart on the course once, and when we stopped for beers at the turn, we were given beers in plastic cups that we had to put tops on with no ice.

Other than that, course is awesome and definitely a must play at the Cape!

“Great course”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2013

Well maintained course, great value, very challenging holes. Only negative was that we had to wait to tee-off later than our appointed time due to a backflow of golfers.

“Nice course...great shape”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2013 via mobile

Played with a couple who were members. It was great that they helped us navigate the course. But being members and from obviously playing the course a lot, we felt very rushed. Tried to slow down the pace...after all, we were on vacation. Would love to go back and enjoy each hole.

“Great Courses: Sketchy Service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2013

The Captains are municipal courses, and the Town of Brewster collectively wrings its hands trying to figure out why the two beautiful and challenging 18-hole championship courses don't generate more revenue. Surveys generated the golfers' reflexive response: speed up play. But, in or out of season and at any time of day, I've never been irritated by the pace on Captains. (And I don't think I've ever irritated the party behind me!) Under those circumstances, having a ranger randomly driving around and gratuitously hectoring people is not helpful. The new food service contractor provides much better quality food (and a drinks cart!). But the basic problem remains: the staff, while unfailingly nice and well-meaning, perpetuate the mean stereotypes of municipal employees -- fumble-witted and inept. There's terrible communication between the pro shop and the starters, and the starters get confused under pressure. It's rare that the starting process is crisp, clear or accurate. You may get off some time around the time you reserved, but not necessarily at the exact time or even on the course that you specified. Now, that's irritating.
