My husband and I took a quick 2 night trip to the Cape...we live only an hour from Brewster. We traveled Thurs-Saturday to make for easier travel over the bridge. I highly recommend skipping Route 6 and hopping over to 6A to work your way through quintessential Cape Cod towns and villages. Once you see the beautiful lawn at the Ocean Edge resort and landscaping with the mansion in the background, you are immediately "somewhere else". The grounds are gorgeous, the mansion is stunning and once inside, you'll find a gorgeous reception area (with super nice staff!!). Our room was on the mansion side but not in the mansion itself. We had a 2nd floor room/patio with a slight ocean view. The room itself was totally updated with a boutique like feel....boutiquey but beachy at the same time. The bathroom and dressing area were gorgeous...the robes were yummy! The Tommy Bahama toiletries were a nice treat! The bed linens were amazing quality and the bed was very comfortable. Truly, it was a pleasant surprise to not have to have anything "wrong" with the room. We live and breathe home renovations and are typically disappointed with room decor/condition when we travel...not this time! We ate at Brewster Fish House for lunch (best chowder ever!), Brewster Coffee House for breakfast (best blueberry pancakes ever!) and Cobies (local, historical...sea food shack) for lobster rolls. We shopped at Seaweeds Home Decor, Brewster General Store and Brewster Book Store (one of the most adorable and well stocked, smaller book stores ever...the kids selection is amazing!). We loved the Cook Shop at Lemontree Village in Brewster. We've visited a lot of cooking/kitchenware shops around the country and this one is fabulous...filled to the brim with lots of goodies whether you like to cook or not...it's inspiring and the sales associate was really wonderful too! We took a short drive down to Wellfleet to stop at PB Boulangerie for a mid-day snack at the bakery...will be going back there for dinner on our next trip down. We also shopped in Chatham (15 minutes away from the resort). Chatham is gorgeous...lots of shops, boutiques, restaurants and galleries. This is the perfect town to walk around in. Beautiful Cape Cod styled architecture surrounds you....eye candy! Needless to say, we spent very little time at the resort but we knew within only a few minutes of arriving that we would be going back. The resort has so much to offer that we didn't take part in: indoor pool, several outdoor pools, restaurants on site, private beach, bike rentals (resort is on the Cape Bike Path), spa...and so on. One small gripe from my husband...additional $10 internet fee on top of the resort fee. However, we both can't wait to go back.
