“Fabulous weekend at Brewster by the Sea”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

We were on the cape for a wedding; having rented houses there many summers, we know the area well. Read reviews and websites of many different inns in Brewster/Harwich/chatham area and decided to give BBTS a try. And we are so glad we did. Everything it said on the website was absolutely accurate - wonderful breakfasts outside on the patio, lovely pool deck, comfortable luxurious room, knowledgable and helpful innkeepers. It's expensive, as most places on the cape are during the high season. However, we feel we got what we paid for in terms of beautiful and luxurious surroundings, great food, and friendly service. We would not hesitate to come back.

I've reviewed Brewster by the Sea for Trip Advisor before, but this year was unique in our experience and we hope our comments might be useful to future visitors.
The late April weather this year was very cold and blustery with intermittent showers. None of our usual beachcoming on the National Seashore beaches seemed like it would be much fun. So we sought out Head of the Meadow Beaches for the first time and stood our ground in the wild, freezing gale at the edge of a deserted shore. No other humans were in sight. Thrilling! A second new adventure was visiting New Bedford Whaling National Historic Park and the Whaling Museum there. The museum has five complete whale skeletons, 20 galleries, a huge indoor model of a whaling ship that visitors can climb aboard...well, too much to mention but so much to recommend. If you have a reason to tear yourself away from the Cape for a day, it's worth a visit. New Bedford is only about an hour away from Brewster at that quiet, late spring time of year. Finally we'd like to recommend eating at the Marshside and shopping for candy gifts at the Chocolate Sparrow. We plan to do both again on future visits.
As always, BBTS is our favorite port in a storm. We basked near our fireplace in the Bayberry Room, savored the amazing breakfasts that got us going for the day, and looked forward to the homemade cookies at teatime. Donna and Byron were as helpful and hospitable as always. Now we can honestly say we recommend BBTS in any weather.

Room Tip: In Orchard House, rooms on the side away from the road are quieter. The website has excellent descr...

We stayed at Donna and Byron Cain's lovely establishment for three wonderful nights. Breakfast here is to be anticipated each morning..... Fresh everything! Homemade scones with homemade raspberry jam, with homemade blueberry pomegranate juice, homemade pancakes and French toast with a fruit compote that is heaven on earth! Yes --the breakfast here is a true highlight and will start your beautiful Cape Cod day with a smile! The hosts here are so accommodating and helpful. They booth go above and beyond to ensure their guests are happy ....and very happy you will be . Their staff is excellent as well. Lovely grounds and rooms make this the premier choice in Brewster! Call them first you will NEVER be disappointed !

The service was beyond belief and the rooms were to die for. The details took my breath away. I would return in a heartbeat!!! Thank you Byron and Donna for doing it the right way and making this a true memory.

We decided to get an early start in an effort to beat the July 4th traffic from Boston to the Cape as well as hurricane Arthur heading up the coast. We arrived in Brewster by 8:30 a.m., had breakfast, and decided to just stop by and say hello to the innkeepers Byron & Donna before heading down to Provincetown for a day trip. We certainly didn't expect our room to be ready given that check in wasn't until 3 p.m., and we had previously indicated that we would be arriving around 2 p.m. but, we just wanted to introduce ourselves and tell them that we would be back in the afternoon. Well, Byron met us at the door and despite being in the middle of serving breakfast, proceeded to greet us and give us a tour of the inn and our room. And much to our delight, he indicated that our room was just about ready and suggested we unload our bags before heading to Provincetown. Byron & Donna's breakfasts are to die for and the perfect way to relax before starting your day. And when you return from the beach or shopping in the afternoon they have fresh baked cookies, pastries and lavender lemonade for their guests. Byron and Donna define "customer service" & "hospitality". One of our best days was spent just sitting and relaxing by the pool. The key to success in any business is repeat business and our experience over the July 4th weekend has guaranteed that we will be returning to "Brewster By The Sea".

Room Tip: While we stayed in the garden room which provides easy access to the pool and outdoor dining area, a...

We were greeted by one of the owners Byron, he is so nice and a fellow scientist which made me smile to myself. We had such an incredible stay, the staff and the owners are very polite and attentive to your every need. This was our first time in the area we had a lot of questions, they gave us great recommendations for dining and activities. We stayed in the 2 room suite and it was perfect for 3 nights, everything was clean and comfortable, we felt as if we were at home. Breakfast was a 3 filling courses and delicious coffee made by Byron! Thank you for making our first trip to the Cape a memorable stay, hopefully we will see you at Christmas.

Room Tip: We loved the 2 room suite

Our experience at this B and B was excellent, far surpassing any expectations. The proprietors provided incredible amenities from delicious gourmet breakfasts to afternoon and evening home-baked cookies and brownies. Port or sherry is waiting for guests, as they unwind in the living room after a full day of sight-seeing. The rooms are comfortable, quiet, cheerful, and air-conditioned. Donna and Byron are the perfect hosts, ensuring that every guest leaves with wonderful memories.
