“Enjoying the Cape Cod Canal”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

The park in Buzzards Bay fronts on Main St and affords parking at the train bridge next to the canal. You can access the service road for walking or biking. It also offers picnic tables to enjoy a meal with a great view and almost always a cool breeze! Thursday evenings throughout the summer there is free entertainment in the park which will allow you to see the train bridge lowered to allow the train to arrive for the concerts! The 29th of this month culminates the 100 anniversary of the canal, ceremony at 2pm in the park, tug boat parade through the canal and fireworks display to include illuminating the train bridge at 9pm! I am fortunate to be able to live here and visit this beautiful location year round!

“beautiful place”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

I love to sit under the bridge and wait to see if any trains will go through. My daughter goes to college down the street so it is pretty cool to see when the bridge goes down

“Great photo opportunities!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We enjoyed visiting the area; as many times as I have crossed the canal, I never stopped to see the bridge up close. No trains crossed that day, but I got some great photos of boats under the bridge.

“CAPE COD CANAL”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

Now that it's fall, if you go to the canal you're likely to the seals going through. The other day my husband and a friend swear they saw a whale surface! Whales have been known to go through, but usually stay underwater and are very rarely seen. I missed it! I did see a seal the other day and others have seen them at different times. Not as crowded now. It's just lovely. Still go for a walk each morning on the canal. You can stay as long as you'd like, but restrooms will close pretty soon for the winter. (You can always visit one of the many doughnut shops or restaurants in the area.)
