“Perfect elements not quite in sync”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

I had dinner at Star recently at the CBI. The setting is priceless. Exceptional ocean view. Our table wasn't ready yet and we were directed to the bar. It seems you need a table reservation for the bar ( interesting). We ordered drinks fm the bartender. Not too friendly. We stood with our drinks till our table was ready. Lots of noisy kids around the lobby. But it is a family resort. I just hate parents who let their kid run wild. When our table was ready, we went back to the dining room ,drinks in hand. One member of our party has a slight disability and has a walking brace. So we all walked drink in hand to our table.

Dinner and our waiter was terrific. The veggies were freshly picked ( fm CBI own farm) and wonderfully prepared. Caesar salad "deconstructed " was a fresh take on a standard offering. Over all pricy. The only glitch was the negative hand off fm bar to table and table seating phase. I expect flawless fm a resort of this caliber. Needs a bit more polish with the guest staff. Over all wonderful evening.

“Chatham Bars Inn Grill Clam Bake”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

Our family usually enjoys this clambake. The live music is always
nice. Skip the lobster because there is lots of food without it.
Most everything was good, not great. Our waiter really needs training.
We had to call him over several times to clear the table. When he gave
us the bill we notice coffee charges were over $20. I had to tell him
that this is supposed to be included. He removed it. He also charged
our 12 yr old grand daughter the adult price instead of the 12 & under price.
So check your bill. We will probably continue the tradition next summer.

“Another disappointing experience at Chatham Bars Inn”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

About 2 years ago, we had a rather disastrous experience at their fine dining restaurant (Stars), which had just been re-concepted and re-done (to be fair).

Last week we stopped by for a bite at the more informal grill restaurant overlooking the beach. (It's called the Beach House, not to be confused with the inn in Chatham by that name.) It was an odd time - perhaps 3:30 or 4:00. There were tons of empty tables, but we were informed that - for a table in the shade - we'd have to wait for 30 minutes. No apology. We left, and had a lovely meal at the Wequassett Inn, right down the road in Harwich.

It's sad, but the service attitude at this establishment just doesn't live up to its beautiful setting.

“Pleasantly Surprised”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

We came to Stars because we were unable to secure reservations on Friday night. Other than annoying policy that they would not seat us 10 minutes early, it was great. The lobster and scallops were delicious and the dessert some of the best we've ever had. I would go again.

“fun with the kids”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

Went for the clambake buffet dinner with our three kids. It was a very fun family night. I think the night as a whole was above average fun but the food was about average. Would probably do it once a summer though. I asked my kids which was a more fun night, CBI clambake or Del Mar and they all said Del Mar. Better food with just as much laughter.
