Well what can we say ?. We arrived on the Cape for a few days rest and relaxation and the location, standard of the inn and service did not disappoint us. Both Jim and Val put themselves out to enhance your trip but do it in a very sutble way as not to intrude on any pre-made plans that you may have. From the moment we checked in, Big Jim walks you through the facilities and answers any questions you may have with great enthusiasm. As we were out of season (best time in our opinion, as you can drive and visit places without hassle), there was no probs with booking restuarants but recomendation from the proprieters are very welcome. We tried them all and not a bad meal had !! The breakfasts were huge and the diet went out of the window all homemade and 1st class in the taste department. We will visit the Cape again and The Carrage Inn will be where we will stay, hopefully in the near future. If you want to stay in a lifeless hotel where once you get the room key the next interaction from the staff is at check-out then this inn IS NOT FOR YOU, but if you want to experience good old fashioned homely service and the best that the good old USA can offer, then COME ON DOWN and visit, its worth every penny. As we mentioned, "we arrived as guests and left as friends". PS, dont mention the coffee !

Room Tip: Ours was room 6, lovely but didnt see others.

My husband and I visited the Carriage House while we were between closings. We had just moved out of one home and were several days away from moving into another. We desperately needed some peace and quiet and time to focus on ourselves. Jim and Val and the Carriage House were just what the doctor ordered. From Jim's enthusiastic welcome upon arrival, proclaiming they were "delighted" to have us there (not just "happy" to have us), to his superb restaurant recommendations and Val's creative and delicious breakfasts, we couldn't have been better cared for. The guests there were just lovely, too--nice people to share travel anecdotes with over breakfast. We experienced a major Nor'Easter while there with high winds and heavy rains; however, we didn't lose power, and even if we had, there was our nice gas fireplace in the room to keep us cozy and warm. Chatham is a delightful location in its own right and so convenient to many locations on the Cape. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Carriage House, which gave an added measure of privacy.

My wife and I and our friends had the pleasure of staying at The Carriage House for three nights in the beginning of October. There is a reason why they are TOP Rated in TripAdvisor.
It was a magnificent t 3 days. Our rooms were outstanding. They were off from the main house and had private entrances and fireplaces. We took Jim's restaurant recommendations and each night was another great experience with outstanding food. Each morning we were greeted with a scrumptious breakfast prepared bay Val, Jim's wife. My wife and I are from Florida and our friends from Long Island. My wish is that we get to visit the Carriage House again in the near future. Thanks again Jim and Val for our wonderful vacation experience.

I stayed here for a couple of days last week with my girlfriend. From the moment we arrived, there really wasn't much that could have been done any better. Val and Jim are extremely helpful and at risk of repeating what others have said the breakfasts are truly excellent. The bedrooms are very nice, well decorated and cosy; the en suite bathroom was great; the flat screen and dvd player (along with an extensive dvd collection) was a nice touch although we didn't have much time for watching movies! On Jim's recommendation, we visited the Chatham Squire and Del Mar for dinner. Both were very good but I particularly recommend the latter: try the wood roasted Chatham cod or the maple glazed duck.

The reviews speak for themselves: this place is an outstanding little B&B.

We stayed at the Carriage House for a week in early October. Val and Jim were wonderful hosts, friendly and hospitable but allowing you space to do your own thing. Jim's helpful advice on the best places to visit was very useful and helped us make the most of our time on the Cape.

The guest house is delightful and full of New England charm. Our room was comfortable and quite spacious and the rest of the house was really homely and relaxing - returning after a day out really did feel like coming home.

As for Cape Cod, we knew we'd like it and we did (a lot). Chatham is a lovely base as there's lots to see and do, it's quite centrally placed, and it has one of the best and most compact town centres on the Cape.

Cape highlights we'd recommend include: Provincetown, the National Seashore (favourite beach was Coast Guard), Cape Cod (aka Highland) Light, Route 6A, especially Sandwich, and a day trip by fast ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket (less impressed with Martha's Vineyard).

Places we particularly enjoyed for food in Chatham were the Chatham Squire (both the restaurant and tavern sides), the Wild Goose and Del Mar. The ice cream parlour on Main Street is a must, as is the Chatham Candy Manor for the amazing chocolates! Carmine's is also good if you fancy a takeaway or eat in pizza.

Cape Cod and the Carriage House Inn is a winning combination....hope we get to go back again one day!

We recently stayed at the Carriage House Inn at Chatam for the weekend. A beautiful fall weekend reunion with my maid of honor. Jim and Val went out of their way to make sure that we had a wonderful time. They are so knowledgable about everything going on at the Cape made wonderful suggestions as to what to do. The breakfast was more than scrumptious and the rooms were so comfortable. Everything was utterly perfect and we cannot wait to return. I highly recommend this place as a wonderful retreat. Everything about this pplace is just what a B& B should be. You can search as much as you want, but you will not find a better, warmer and more comfortable place or set of hosts. Thanks Jim and Val. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon tour on New England. We arrived a little late from Boston, Val and Jim took time to welcome us like old friends, even though they had friends staying and were heading out for dinner.

The inn itself was a delight - immaculate, spacious and above all welcoming. Breakfasts were art - Pina Colada muffins anyone? - with enough freshly-prepared food to fuel us until dinner.

Recommended without reservation.
