“Amazing experience, perfect location”

My husband and I were both very impressed with the Chatham Bars Inn. The resort property is beautiful, excellent views of the water, very well landscaped and full of flowers. Our room was large and clean, we stayed at the Sea Mist Cottage. Plenty of on-site dining and drink options, but also a short drive or walk to downtown Chatham. The pools were awesome, both at the spa and the main pool; clean and great poolside service. Great experience at the spa, I had a facial that I was very happy with. The resort has an abundance of staff, all very polite and helpful. Would absolutely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: When booking, we were not aware that the property consisted of multiple cottages with rooms spread o...

My boyfriend and I spent four nights here, beginning on July 3. Immediately upon arrival, you could see what a special property this is. The flowers around the driveway area were beautiful. The lobby and public areas felt like you were exploring a grand, but welcoming, private home. There is a lovely, large room with a fireplace with multiple small seating areas as well as a "library" with another fireplace and several computers. The main dining room, Stars, is light and airy. Our room was not yet ready when we arrived, but we went to wait on the veranda, enjoying the sparkling sea view. Staff notified us as soon as our room was ready, and they had already delivered our luggage to the room.

The first night we had reservations for the Clambake at the Beach House Grill, which I have reviewed separately; I will just say here that we really enjoyed it. The Beach House Grill and pool area are down steps from the hotel on the beach. On July 4th we had dinner reservations at 28 Atlantic at a nearby resort; since we were already feeling the effects of Hurricane Arthur (wind and heavy rain), one of the hotel's white BMW SUVs drove us to dinner and picked us up when we were through.

Several mornings we had breakfast on the veranda. In the evenings you can have drinks or dine from a limited menu. On our last night we split the seafood tower, which was delicious. Past the end of the veranda is an area with rows of white adirondack chairs and side tables, looking out to sea. There is also an area behind that by the outdoor bar with chairs and tables. Both areas are ideal for relaxing and enjoying the view (and the breeze).

On our last day we had reserved a pool cabana (there are also beach cabanas). The pool complex is surround by a wall made of large glass panes and white brick piers. It moderates the wind without hampering the view of the beach. Each cabana has a canvas roof with small chandelier. There are two comfy chaises inside with a console between. There is a stocked mini fridge there and fresh towels. There are two small portable tables for drinks or food. There are also two chaises immediately in front of the cabana, out of the shade. You can close the curtains on any or all side of the cabana. There is waiter/waitress service for drinks or food, and there is a constant attendant in the ladies' room to keep it clean and dry. If you tire of the pool, you can walk down the short boardwalk to the private beach. There is a private launch to the outer bar beach, but we didn't take it.

CBI has a great location in that it is on the beach but that you can easily walk to Main Street in Chatham for shopping or dining. The hotel also has a nice signature store with a pretty wide selection of items.

The service at CBI is excellent. Sometimes it seemed that the staff would actually anticipate your needs before you made a request. The staff we encountered were very polite and friendly. We really appreciated the attention to detail. For example, for the July 4th turndown service, housekeeping left a small box of chocolates from the Chatham Candy Kitchen. It had fish- and shell-shaped chocolates as well as two star-shaped ones, one wrapped in red foil, the other in blue. Small red, white and blue star candy was sprinkled around them. Earlier in the day they left a "red, white and blue" plate, strawberries, a white peach, blueberries and a blueberry gelee.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our visit and couldn't imagine a better setting. We would return in a heart beat.

My wife and I just returned from a long weekend at Chatham Bars Inn and would happily return. It is a grand old hotel, but "old" doesn't mean run-down. The property is kept in pristine condition.

We stayed in a Deluxe Cottage Suite that looked out on the golf course. It was very large, bright and cheerful with a huge living room that had a convertible sofa and fireplace. The bedroom was also quite large with a comfortable king-size Tempurpedic bed. The suite also had a Nespresso machine which was quite convenient for a morning coffee before venturing out to breakfast.

Speaking of breakfast, it is a first class buffet in the main house with a ton of selections. Practicaly every table has a view of the beach. It's in the STARS restaurant space that, at night, is CBI's steak house.

We opted for the beach rather than pool. The beach set-up is very good with many cabanas as well as regular beach chairs with umbrelllas. Servers patrol the area to be sure you have any drinks and food you want.

All of the staff was nice and helpful. A small "but" is that many of the staff are not native English speakers, so it sometimes presented a communication challenge.

CBI is a popular place for weddings and as soon as you arrive you'll know why. This however also meant that the staff was quite strecthed at times and the pool bar gets closed for private receptions.

All in, I'm sure we'll be returning to CBI.

Room Tip: The cottage rooms and suites are larger than the rooms in the main house.

This place is simply amazing.......everything was perfect; actually more than perfect !! However, it is pricey; actually very pricey. However, you get what you pay for and it is definitely worthwhile. We had a wonderful time and think everyone should experience such a place once in their life. The spa facility, including their own pool, which is available to you for the entire day of your appointment, is so relaxing, I felt like I was in another world........GREAT PLACE........!!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the beach.......we didnt have such a room, but it really didnt matter...

We just completed a 3 generation family 4 day stay and had a great time. There is no better place for good family bonding. It may be a bit expensive but you feel like you were pampered by the best and worth every penny.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have ocean/beach view but priced accordingly

Service is excellent and unpretentious. Visited with 3 kids (6,12 and 15) and all of us look forward to returning. Location is excellent to walk to town, enjoy Chatham A's baseball games and they provide a complimentary boat ride to the outer island - take a picnic and enjoy a day on what feels like your own private beach. If you go, take advantage of all they have to offer - including the clambake. It can be expensive but we felt it was worth every penny in terms of quality, enjoyment and lasting memories for our family.

Room Tip: Cottages are perfect for a family

Overall this location was 5 stars, some of the rooms have great views but not all of them, and the service is wonderful...however the servers need some work & the value wasn't quite there for me. As a PR and customer service geared person, the servers at the restaurants were very poor.

Our first night we went to the STARS restaurant. Food was fantastic! Views from almost every table are great! The place was 1/2 full, and we didn't see our actual server until after our dinner entrees were out and started enjoying. He didn't take our drink order, our appetizer order, or our entree order... so why did we tip him? I would have left the other staff the tip.

The complimentary breakfast is coffee and tea...not even fruit and muffins? For the price of the rooms, Im sure they can spare some complimentary fruit. Just sayin'

The pool was great, the grounds immaculate, the 2nd day we took advantage of the boat ride to North Beach - once there you can walk to the Atlantic Ocean. And you can walk or take a quick shuttle ride to Main Street for shopping and dining.
