We stayed at the Residence Inn Dedham for three nights in late April 2014 and our experience was excellent. Upon arrival I was made to feel welcome and there was an obvious family friendly atmosphere, which was great for us travelling with our 2 year old. We happened to arrive on the first of three nights when dinner was being provided to guests, which was a nice bonus. Kathy, who prepared breakfast and dinner during our stay, was absolutely outstanding and made our stay so easy and enjoyable - really all staff were very friendly and incredibly responsive, thanks again. Part of the reason we selected this hotel was for the separate living and sleeping areas, which worked very well for us. As far as location, it was only a 3-4 minute walk to catch the train, which was very convenient for those heading in to downtown Boston. There is also a nice shopping complex very close by. In summary, I would recommend this location to anyone who wants really great service and easy access to the downtown without having the pay the premium associated with staying downtown.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 months duration. My experience here was so amazing that if I'd be visiting this location again in future, i don't need to think even twice before making my reservation here. Their staff is so polite and helpful that you don't feel that you are away from home for such a long duration. Everyone there do a great job and ensure that their customers get every possible help and their stay is comfortable. Kathy and Mellissa are two best people there and I'm sure I'd remember them forever!!!

Room Tip: Front facing, near to Elevator on 2nd floor.

A number of family members and friends stayed at this hotel while attending a near-by family wedding. During our stay, the customer service was outstanding. The staff repeatedly checked-in with our group to offer help with the wedding preparations and carefully accommodated a delivery of wedding flowers. Special requests were handled promptly. A big thanks to the staff for their help and enthusiasm.

Stayed here for two weeks while we house hunted. Two adults, Two small kids (2 and 3years) and one small dog. The staff is so friendly and I mean all of them!! Always greet you with a smile and very sweet to our kids and completely understanding about our dog being freaked out from all the traveling. The room was EXTREMELY CLEAN and is very functional for extended stay and is the first pet friendly hotel I have ever stayed in that did not knock you out with the overly perfumed smell from trying to cover up the previous pet. You get a hot breakfast every single morning and dinner Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and the food is very good!! These people treat you so well you feel like a guest in there home!

I stayed with my husband at this property for 2 nights because I had some work to attend to in the local area. This is right near the Legacy Place Mall and if you love craft beers, you must visit The Yard House. Back to the hotel--- the front desk woman was very helpful and friendly. They even let us put a hold on the room because we thought we needed it one more day (which we didn't and we let them know that day.... we did not get charged). My husband is a police officer and the government discount was much appreciated. Our room was a suite and it was huge. It also had a handicap sign on our door so I wonder if it was bigger than most rooms. During the week, they actually have dinner for you in the lobby. They had spaghetti one night and a broccoli penne another night. The breakfast in the morning was more than sufficient: fresh fruit, bagels/muffins/bread, hot scrambled eggs, make your own waffles station, some sort of potato/sausage fretta, potato pancakes, juices, yogurts, hot oatmeal, cereal & milk, coffee, etc. The woman who makes the dinners also comes in a few days a week and holds a made to order omelet station in the morning but we missed that (she's not there Thurs/Fri mornings). They come out and encourage you to come over and eat. They are passionate about their cooking and both woman (breakfast and dinner) were very personable.

My only complaint is I had to train a girl from my company and I was hoping to do that at the kitchen table in my nice suite but the wifi went down. We tried the lobby but had no luck. I wouldn't rely on the wifi to always be working here.

Our room was very clean and very spacious. It almost smelt like they just replaced the carpets or something. The bed was all white and everything smelled so freshly washed. The TV swiveled so you can watch it from the couch or in the bed, which was cool. We took advantage of the full fridge/freezer. They give you a bag of microwave popcorn on arrival too- that was nice. They have Nexus shampoo/conditioner (which were awful...left my hair in snarls) and no lotion.

The area is a little shady but it's not the hotel's fault. There aren't many places open on the weeknight after 10pm around this area other than the Yard House (open til midnight) and TGI Fridays up the road. For the proximity to Boston & my storage unit-- this worked out just fine for us. Parking was free and apparently the T is nearby but rumor has it, that train station runs more sporadically than most T stations. Check the schedule. It's near the bus line too. If you want a good homemade sub, try Salem Market. It's not very far and it's delicious.

Oh and the gym is a joke (approx. 3 cardio machines and no weights) but they are taking out the hot tub on the other side of the wall in the pool room and expanding the gym. The pool seemed nice but no one was ever in there. I saw a guy checking the chemicals in the morning so that was encouraging. The water was warm.

In summary for the price and distance from crazy Boston traffic- this worked out perfect for us but I wouldn't rely on this hotel's wifi to get any work done.

Thank you for the nice review and all the kind words. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and that our location fit your needs with easy access to Boston and Legacy Place. It sounds like you are a "Foodie" so I'm sure you appreciated all the dining options at Legacy Place! Sorry to hear the HSIA was not working properly during your stay but hopefully you brought it to our attention so the issue could be addressed. We look forward to your next visit and hope it will be soon!

Our stay at the Residence Inn - Dedham didn't start out very well. I always do my homework to ensure we know where we're going, how we're getting there, etc... especially when I know we'll get there at night. The hotel website says there is a "T" stop just within a short walk - which there (technically) is. The problem was that the train was a commuter train, not a regular "T" subway train. We had to wait an hour at South Station in Boston to catch the train and then, on top of that, it was an extra $6 per person (one way). When we finally got to Dedham (at night, raining!) the directions we got to the hotel were a bit confusing. We eventually found the hotel, but the path to the hotel was pretty scary (no sidewalks, poorly lit path, traffic). Luckily, our kids are older and we were fine walking the short, albeit, somewhat precarious, distance in the dark.

The hotel was fine. The room was spotless, the staff was attentive (thank you, Ralph!) and the location to the Legacy Mall was fine (again, no sidewalks, lots of traffic during the day! Watch it with small kids!). The breakfast was fine. The pool was nice and warm, but the hot tub was closed and is being replaced with a larger exercise room.

The hotel really tries to make the stay a good one. However, we booked this place because our stay in the Boston area is for 10 days and rates were cheaper than in the city. We moved after the weekend to another Marriott in Boston because the higher cost of the room and location (plus extra cost of train!) outweigh the lower price in Dedham.

Thank you for the review and for staying with us! We agree that we have a great location with the Commuter Rail and Legacy Place within such close proximity. It is unfortunate that the public transportation did not work into your plans for this stay but look forward to seeing you the next time you are in the area. We appreciate the kind words about our staff and will pass them along!
