We dropped by the Captain's because we had heard about the clam cakes. Yep, that's right; clam (not crab) cakes. Many of the platters include them, so we were able to order our preferred entree and try the cakes, too. Nice. So my lobster roll was yummy, with just enough mayo and one piece of lettuce (which is the way I like it). It would be calling it great if the roll had been grilled w/butter. As it was, just barely toasted is the best I can say for it. The fried fish was fabulous (I tasted it) and the fried clams were fine. The cole slaw was homemade (I believe) and above average. The fries were hot. And fast! We could not believe how quickly our order made it to the table. Kudos to the cooks and waitstaff for that. My husband also had a very chocolate-y frappe but was disappointed that they were out of malt. It happens.
And the clam cakes? Well, they turned out to be more like fritters and rather doughy....not much flavor at all. They were OK, but 1 was enough for most of us.
