We stayed at the Ebb tide's "chalets" the second week in August. The cost was $1400 for the week. Let me preface this by saying, Chris the owner was a lovely woman. She worked in the gift shop and was very helpful as far as information on the sights, boat trips etc.
The Chalets were really just apartments. We chose a first floor unit because it had air conditioning. When we arrived the place was not exactly clean. The floors looked like they hadn't been swept or washed in some time. The bathroom was in very poor condition, the shower door gasket leaked like a sieve. The bathroom window on the ground floor had vertical blinds and several were missing leaving the whole world to look into the toilet area. And look they did. We woke up each morning to three (although very adorable) but none the less somewhat unwanted children about the age of 5-6 peeking in the windows and talking to us. This happened 4 out of the 7 mornings we were there, at about 8:30. Each mattress and pillow was wrapped in plastic. In crinkled and none of the sheets would stay on. Less than comfortable. The worst was the smell. Not that damp sea smell. It was cloying and moldy and all four of us sneezed and had runny noses the whole time we were there. The day after we left no one was sneezing. The first two nights we were there someone was parked in our assigned spot. When we parked our car in the restaurant parking lot, a kid that worked there told us we couldn't park there. We told him we understood, but there was a tenant in our spot. He shrugged and said it would be difficult to determine which one it was and we could park there...for tonight. It is close to the beach, walking distance. And if you don't mind not having a parking spot, taping garbage bags to cover the windows, slipping on a flooded bathroom floor, or suffering the smell for the bargain price of $1400, this might be the place for you. Us..... we left a day early.

This guest’s visit was four years ago, and in the intervening years, we have repaired or replaced the items they found unsatisfactory, including the window blinds, shower enclosure, and mattress and pillow coverings. In fact, guests this year will notice other updates like a newly resurfaced pool area and walkways, and flatscreen televisions in each cottage.
As for the damp smell reported by this guest, those first floor cottages are indeed built into the side of a hill, so they are similar to a walkout basement, with full-size windows throughout and a sliding glass door across the front. We are always careful to alert potential customers that unlike our other cottages, those “in-ground” units can get damp, so we ask guests to run the air conditioning throughout their stay to keep the rooms dry and comfortable.
Unfortunately, parking is always at a premium in our beachside location; but each cottage does have one reserved on-site space, and there are additional spaces available in a satellite lot around the corner from our property.
