Extremely friendly owners, good breakfast. Slightly overdone on the "british" teacup exposition all over the place. Good rooms, excellent beach equipent (chairs, umbrellas, towels) for the guests.
Coffee had something weird in it: cinnamon?. US coffee is difficult enough for us europeans anyway...apart from that breakfast was great : fresh fruit, daily special (pankaces etc) & eggs.
Rather expensive.

The English Garden Inn is very comfortable and clean. It's located very close to a nice south shore beach and within walking distance of several beach-front restaurants. This is our second stay here which means they do well at everything.
Our room had a nice second floor deck with an ocean view and was very clean. Our only complaint was the size of the room. With only enough room for the bed, a few small chairs and a wardrobe, we didn't have much room for anything else.
The breakfast each morning was great and the innkeepers are very friendly.

We stayed there last year and enjoyed our stay, and once again last week (room 202 just above breakfast room). Cleaning staff does an excellent job; however there was considerable black mold easily visible on the ceiling of the bedroom and of the shower.

There was also mold on the two seat cushions in the room as well, easily visible to the naked eye. The mattress and chipped foam pillows smelled mildewey to the point where we covered them with towels to sleep. I understand that the place is closed down for the winter, but the owners must at least provide ventilation and de-humidification to ensure a minimum of hygiene.

As far as breakfast goes, cinamon flavoured coffe is not everyine's cup of tea so to speak, but when we were served charred black sausages that were inedible (no exageration, no one would eat these things dried out burned pucks) to accompany waffles that tasted more like baking soda than anything else; no fruit on the waffles, just syrup. Very dissapointed and perplexed as to Tripadvisor's top rating, although it is becoming more and more difficult to locate decent accomodations on the Cape as time goes by. We will never return,

Room Tip: Ask for assurance that your room will be mold free and check it out carfefully before accepting it...

Speaking for the English Garden, I sincerely regret the unfortunate experience you had. South Dennis experienced an unusually windy and rainy spring in 13' that resulted in one of the rooms on the south-facing side of the house developing a small leak in the deck roof which resulted in the mold you'd experienced. We have replaced the deck, demolded the room and continue to monitor all our rooms to assure that this condition does not reappear. We are 100% commited to making sure there are no musty smells or mold in our B&B.
Your experience, while regrettable is unusual as evidenced by our consistently high rankings by English Garden guests.

We booked a room at the last minute for a 3-night stay earlier in July. It was great being steps away from the beach; there are beach chairs and towels to use. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. The innkeepers strike just the right balance between being friendly and helpful and leaving you alone.

The décor is not necessarily my taste, but rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable.

We would stay here again.

Stayed for the first week this July. The location is 5 minutes from the ocean. Our room was lovely with a balcony, table and two chairs. The breakfast includes a different speciality each day. The hosts. are as very nice and helpful.

Room Tip: All rooms have balconies. Some are large enough so that you can sit at the table with two chairs. Ot...

We stayed at the English Garden the first weekend in June while attending a wedding. Only problem was what appeared to be small mold spots on the ceiling in our room. Other than that the Inn was perfect for a weekend away, The breakfast was very good, the bed comfortable, and the owners could not have been nicer. We strongly recommend staying there if you are in this part of the Cape. Great value if you stay off season.

Stayed here for 2 nights in June. It was very charming. The owners are very personable and nice. The room was adorable - comfy bed, clean. There was a little balcony to enjoy the outdoors. It is within walking distance (a few minutes walk) to a public beach. Unfortunately, since it was early in the season, the beach was covered in old seaweed and was kind of smelly. But I think that will be cleaned up later in the season. But we just drove a few miles to a nicer beach. But a cute stay.
