We were fans of the Marshside Restaurant back when it was a little house with oil cloth tablecloths, Trivial Pursuit Cards and crayons on the tables and parking for about 4 cars. The food was great, fairly priced and the service friendly all year-round. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, you couldn't beat it. You watched the bird feeders outside the ancient windows and enjoyed the view across the marsh. Then they closed the bridge for repairs and the restaurant shut down. Every visit to the Cape meant checking to see if they were open yet. Finally they were and what a surprise! Valet parking at Marshside? The new building should have won architectural awards - high ceilings, huge walls of windows and fabulous woodwork everywhere. There is a view from every table. The gardens are magnificent - the site of at least one of our family pictures each year. But, most importantly, the food has maintained and even surpassed its former quality. The service is just as friendly, but some of us miss the Trivial Pursuit. However, as my grandchildren will attest, the selection of toys available for younger customers in unequaled (hidden in drawers under the bench in the waiting room) and they even have American Girl dolls that can join your family for your meal. This is a place for a bowl of great soup or a burger, but also up to the challenge for your anniversary dinner or family reunion. The seafood is without equal and prepared perfectly. If someone asks me "Where do you want to eat?" they know Marshside will be my first choice. By the way, I have been coming to the Cape for more than 60 years, so my experience is wider than most tourists or even some residents.
If you are on the Cape, don't miss this place - but be warned, they do not take reservations, so if you prefer not to wait, go early.
