Wonderful place, quiet, and very close to Nauset Beach and strategical place to visit Cape Cod. The staff is very welcoming, and the breakfasts are fantastic.
Finally the price is right / average.
Highly recommend

Room Tip: We stayed in bayberry room, very nice

This was the tag-line of The Nauset House Inn back when my husband and I started coming in 1997, well before the ubiquity of cell phones and iPads! But we still shut off our phones and our other electronic devices most of the time and continue simply to enjoy the beauty, hospitality, serenity, and community of The Nauset House Inn as much as we can, year-after-year. Coming back to this wonderful family-owned place is like coming home every summer (I think we've missed 3 times in 16 years), but better because there are no chores, errands, or family squabbles to worry about. Our big thing is biking: we bring our bikes and every non-rainy day bike 25-30 miles, mostly on the nearby Cape Cod Rail Trail. (Orleans is almost exactly in the middle of the 22+ mile trail.) The rest of the time we read all those books that we wanted to read during the year but never did, take walks to the beach, and eat great food. The food starts with fresh, made-to-order breakfasts, where the omelets are perfect every time, the homemade granola is outstanding, and each morning starts with homemade muffins that are to die for. John, Cindy, and Judy bend over backwards to help us find exactly what restaurants we want to try for dinner, make reservations for us, and because of the high regard with which they are held by local restaurant owners, can often get us last-minute reservations that we'd be unable to get for ourselves. This was confirmed for us this year by one local restauranteur, who also marvelled that the guests that come to his establishment from The Nauset House Inn are always such nice people! And that is what we've found as well: our fellow guests are always such nice people. Whether they are perenials (we met one woman this summer who has been coming almost every year since Diane and her late husband, Al, opened in the early '80s) or first-timers from Boston or Michigan or Italy (homes of some of this year's first-timers during the week we were there), somehow the Inn attracts really lovely guests. The only downside for us is that Beach Road is the main road running to Nauset Beach, and so occasionally it can be noisier or busier at night than we might like. If that bothers you, ask for a room at the back of the main Inn or the Carriage House, or ask for the separate Outermost House at the back of the property.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have less road noise.

My husband and I return to Nauset House Inn every year. It is less than a mile from a beautiful ocean beach, the hosts are friendly, you get a full, tasty breakfast with several menu options. The atmosphere is cozy and laid back. The Inn is best for adults: no television and no pool, for example. There are also no air conditioners in the rooms, although we have not found this to be a problem, perhaps because the gardens are wooded and and it tends to be breezy. We find it to be a charming and affordable base for a trip to the ocean.

The Nauset House Inn is a treasure on Cape Cod. Centrally located in Orleans, you are a 10-minute walk to Nauset Beach or a quick ride to any of the National Seashore beaches. The accommodations are picture perfect and several different options are available. We knew we found our home away from home when we visited for the first time four years ago. We've enjoyed coming back each year ever since. It's amazing to hear the stories over breakfast each morning (yum yum) of so many who return year after year - I think one couple mentioned they've been coming for over 30 years! Cindy and John work tirelessly to ensure each guest has a relaxing vacation. If you haven't visited the Nauset House Inn, you're missing out. Cindy and John, we'll be back!

nauset house inn is a wonderful home away from home. the innkeepers, cindy and john, diane, and judy are friendly, knowledgeable about the area, warm, interesting and always focused on providing you with the best possible experience. the inn is cozy with a large living room designed to facilitate conversation with interesting guests from all over the country and the world and/or to read in comfortable chairs with a lamp.there's also the wonderful breezy green house perfect for reading and/or conversation and the grounds for picnics, relaxing in the sun or under a tree. each day begins with a fabulous delicious home-cooked full fresh breakfast. each evening starts with an hors d'oeurve and wine or cranbery juice. in between the inn keepers are finding and booking you a restaurant that's bound to become your favorite, booking you a whale watch or fishing expedition, pointing you in the direction of a perfect beach experience with towels and chairs borrowed from the inn or trail to hike or bike, helping you find galleries and shops. i go to cape cod often and some of the lure is staying at nauset house inn, my perfect home away from home.

My husband and I have stayed at the inn 8 or 9 times over the past 10 years and we can't stay away or say enough about it. Here is a (short) list of what we love about the Inn:

Breakfast! Choices include Eggs, granola, yogurt, fruit, waffles, pancakes and of course freshly baked muffins. Each year when we check in we seem to arrive at just the right time - baking time! The sweet smell from the kitchen dissolves any stress that followed us to the Cape.

The innkeepers - Diane, John and Cindy. We imagine that running an inn is very stressful. Yet they never show that stress to their guests. They greet you warmly, as if you're an old friend or family member visiting after a long absence. They take time to talk to and get to know you.

Convenience. The inn is an easy 1/2 walk or bike ride to Nauset Beach. It's also close to town, shopping, restaurants and the Cape Cod Rail Trail.

Hospitality. Whether you have special dietary needs for breakfast, need dinner reservations in the evening, or simply want ideas on how to spend your time, they'll take care of you.

Community. We've never stayed at an inn that created such a community. Breakfast offers lively conversation and around 5pm many guests gather in the living room for wine, snacks and friendly chatter. You really get a chance to know the other people staying at the inn. Staff is always on hand to participate in the conversation and offer dinner/activity suggestions.

Relaxing. Rain or shine, the Nauset House Inn creates a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. Read a book in the yard, take a bike ride, or head to the beach. Even on a rainy day, the comfortable living room offers a dry, quiet place from the rain. Love this place no matter the weather!

Affordable. Cape Cod can be very expensive. The Nauset House Inn offers rooms for all budgets.

Every year we look forward to our time at the Nauset House Inn (and feel disappointed when we can't get there!) Thank you for making this such an enjoyable and memorable experience!

Room Tip: If you don't mind sharing a bathroom with other guests, we love the Strawberry room on the first...

We have been lucky enough to enjoy a week for each of the past three summers at Nauset House Inn. There really isn't a better place to stay on Cape Cod. The Inn has lovely rooms, beautiful grounds, and an exceptional location in walking distance to one of the best beaches on the Cape and easy driving distance to the National Sea Shore. John and Cindy are terrific hosts, they always make you feel at home and more than welcome. Great breakfasts! and wonderful service. We especially appreciate returning back to our already cleaned room after breakfast and going straight to the beach. In addition to fabulous beaches, Nauset House is close to many fine restaurants and shops, bike paths, and hiking and walking opportunities. There is a fridge available for guest use. Just simply the best.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very nice. We especially enjoy the rooms in the building adjacent to the main Inn...
