“A weekend at the Cape”
Reviewed 12 October 2010

This surprise opportunity weekend at the Cape was made all the more rewarding by great (warm) fall weather and the discovery of a gem among B&B's, The Parsonage Inn. Not only is the establishment impeccably appointed and maintained in appropriate accoutrement, but the proprietors, Liz and Ian, add their own measure of old world charm by being themselves. Breakfast is excellent, the conversation is relevant, the local guidance is superb, and the enjoyment complete. A must if you are staying over.

This Bed and Breakfast is the best place to stay for summer Vacation.
We stayed for 3 days and definitely we will come back next year.
Warm place, excellent breakfast, always the good tips on what to do, where to go.
Helped us for our visit of Nantucket Island.
Rooms are clean, very well decorated.
Ian and Elizabeth know how to welcome people and they want the certainty that you enjoy your vacation.

The Parsonage Inn is the perfect Bed and Breakfast for a relaxing and restful getaway to the Cape. The subtle yet elegant surroundings mix warmth and charm throughout the beautifully furnished Inn. With spacious guest rooms warmly decorated with very comfortable beds and cozy bedding accessories, you’ll have no problem sleeping soundly at the end of your day. I particularly like that each room is individually air conditioned for your comfort, as well as private baths in each. The Inn is conveniently located to one of the most beautiful beaches in New England, and is within walking distance of several fine restaurants, and general stores for munchies on the beach or fine selections of wine and cheeses at the end of your day. The breakfasts are scrumtious, with your daily choice of fresh fruit, pastry and generous portions of breakfast favorites, from quiche, lemon pancakes, crepes or other delicious surprises! Most importantly, the hosts, Liz and Ian Browne, are truly a delightful and engaging couple to be around. Always accessible, they are full of ideas if you need help planning your day with activities for all ages. And you’re in for a treat when Liz sits down at her piano. A lovely way to end your day and begin your evening. I’ve stayed at the Inn in every season, and wouldn’t dream of going elsewhere. Well worth the trip from any location. And don’t forget to buy a copy of Liz’s breakfast cookbook for your own home cooking!

I don't think it's possible to give this inn a good enough written review. This week we'll be staying there for our fourth summer on the Cape, and we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere. The breakfasts are truely awesome, always with fresh fruit, a fresh baked good, a main dish such as egg soufflé, French toast, or something similar, and are always freshly prepared. Our of course there is plenty of fresh coffee and a good assortment of tea as the owners are British.

And the location couldn't be much better, nearly equi-distant from Skaket beach, a warm, bay beach with calm water and a sand bar that goes out nearly a mile during low tide, one of the best places to watch the sun set. There's also the famous Nauset beach which is always popular and has great boogie boarding conditions between high and low tide.

The inn is conveniently a very short walking distance from Sundae School, some of the best ice cream on the Cape, as well as a good pizza shop, and several popular and quality restaurants.

Ian and Liz allow us to leave our bikes in their shed, dry our beach towels on the clothesline, and are always around talking to guests. You can tell they genuinely enjoy the inn and the Cape and do what they can to ensure each guest enjoys his stay there. I absolutely could not think of a better place to stay.

This is a very well run B&B. We enjoyed our stay and found the owners to be very accomodating and friendly. It was so nice to wake up every morning and have coffee and breakfast waiting for us. Even though it was a very hot week when we were there we were comfortable in our room with the a/c on as we needed. It's a 200 year old Inn so not to expect central A/C. We are walkers and bikers so we loved being able to walk or bike into town or to walk to the beach (about 1.6 miles either way). We brought our bikes and would recommend the paved Cape Cod Rail Trail for biking or walking. Bikes can be rented in town if you don't bring your own. There are a few markets near by and we were able to pick up snacks and sandwiches and drinks as needed. Having an ice cream place about a 3 minute walk away was great on those warm evenings!
We also suggest taking a day trip to the next little town of Chatham for browsing in shops and for the beach too.

We have stayed in a number of B+Bs over the years, and The Parsonage is at the top of the list. Liz and Ian are extremely gracious, the room was very comfortable (with AC if needed), and the location is very convenient. The breakfast is different every day, and the food and service are top-notch. I don't understand the last review; they must have been at a different location. We highly recommend staying with LIz and Ian at The Parsonage; they know the area, and the inn is fantastic.

Of all the B&B that I have stayed at this one hits the bottom of my list. The owners are nice and friendly however the breakfast was of such poor quality that we hardly at any. The location of the home is convenient but main street turned out to be quite a busy road which made for troubles getting to sleep. The home was uncomfortably warm and we never saw the afternoon cheese and wine boosted about.

We were totally shocked to receive this review. Yes, we are "nice and friendly" to all our guests and we want everyone to be comfortable and "at home" which includes being able to tell us about anything which might not be quite to their liking. We make ourselves available throughout the day and have many conversations with guests, so they have plenty of opportunity to speak up.

All our guest bedrooms have air-conditioning units and they are very effective so there is no reason to be "uncomfortably warm" in the bedroom. These guests did not not notice there was a window air-conditioner in the room ! Why did they not say something after the first night?

If they had asked us about evening refreshments, we would have told them we have not offered it for various reasons for a few years now, hence our not "boasting" about it or even mentioning it ! We did tell them about a market across the street that sold wine and nibbles upon their query and they seemed happy with that suggestion.

In regards to their "poor quality breakfasts" comment, we think readers will notice quite the reverse is true and that for many guests the breakfasts are one of the highlights of their stay. All our many (35+) other Trip Advisor reviews rate us "Excellent" But ... maybe crustless quiche, chocolate-chip muffins, and fresh fruit on the first morning and apple pancakes and freshley baked scones on the second day were not to their taste. ... so be it. Why did they not say something to us while they were here rather than write about it later! We may even have offered them an alternative.
