“Great view”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

This is a very easy way to get good views of Nauset Marsh without a kayak. The paths are moderate and the is a good trail guide. There is poison ivy but it is trimmed back in most places.

“The most beautiful views”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

You can drive right up to the higher parking lot and see sights you would have to walk to on paths. Perfect for the elderly, handicapped, or disabled. The Park Service pamphlet about Fort Hill is very informative.

“Nice walk”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

This is a nice area to walk around and view salt marshes and the ocean. The Captain Penniman house is on the same road and also worth a quick visit.

“The Nauset Marsh Trail”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

Back this year to enjoy this beautiful spot overlooking Nauset Marsh, but with an even better view by taking the Nauset Marsh Trail. Enter from the upper parking lot or the lower parking lot near the Penniman House. The trail takes you down for a much closer view of Nauset Marsh with a full field of yellow, purple, crimson and blue wild flowers on one side and enormous cattails on the other. Enjoy brief treks to the side of the marsh for a feel of an ecosystem in full play. Continue past Skiff Hill and take the path to Indian Rock where early settlers used huge boulders sharpen their weapons and tools. An inscription from the travel diaries of Samuel Champlagne provides evidence of a thriving community in 1605. Dotted along the path this year are 10 wooden sculptures by students at a local charter school from wood gathered by National Park crews in cleaning up the Fort Hill area. Follow the trail to the Red Maple Marsh with its intriguing wildlife surrounding the boardwalk there.

“Beautiful Spot”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This has one of the most fabulous views on the Cape. There is a historic home with an archway made from whalebones. There are great trails through the woods, fields and down to the ocean and wetlands. The vista from the top of the hill is magnificent and changes with the seasons. There are great birds and wonderful photo opportunities, even on a rainy day.
