Part of Cape Cold National Seashore, this provides a place for part of the history on the area. A good hiking trailings (Fort Hill) start around here, and we enjoyed it. A pair of whale bones were used as the front-gate, and was interesting to see.

The Cape Cold National Seashore offers many Open Houses and Tours of the Captain Penniman House during the Summer. The house is located in the Fort Hill area - a couple of nice hiking trails take off from this area. Follow road to the top of the hill to the parking lot for a beautiful view of Nauset Marsh and the ocean beyond.

The house is empty of furnishings - but there are large photographs of the Pennimans in the house set in most rooms, some original wallpaper, some restored. Fun to take a quick walk through and learn about this sea captain and his family!
