Description: Note: We're now open! Karoo Restaurant is inspired by the diversity of British, Dutch, African, Malaysian, Portuguese and Indian flavors that make up the delicious dishes of Chef Sanette Groenewald's South African homeland. Our eclectic menu ranges from VEGAN, VEGETARIAN, and Gluten free options to homemade burgers, fish & chips, native stews and exotic meats. We carry a wide assortment South African wines and unusual imported beers from all over the world. As always our entire menu is available for dine-in or take-out.

This restaurant is very nice and yet still kid friendly. I enjoy the falafel with the side of cabbage slaw and the fries are very yummy too!

Karoo was a delightful surprise tucked off of 6A in Eastham. The owner/chef, Sanette Groenwald, is Afrikaner, and cooks like it! Limited menu of popular, very interesting, tasty dishes reflecting South African Ethnic cuisines. We loved the Cape Malay stew (in both chicken and mussles varieties). "Monkey ribs with gland sauce" were succulent and unusual (although NOT monkey). Lamb stew and curry meat loaf were both wonderful. There were many unusual offerings, like snail Rangoon, and old standbys like somosas. Sweet desserts, like grandma's Malva pudding complete a great, rich, flavorful meal. Recommended for a fun, interesting meal.

We have eaten here several times (as well as their other restaurant in Provincetown). We enjoy the change from the usual fare on the Cape

This South African restaurant opened recently in Eastham, and we decided to try it with three other friends. What a treat! It's a wonderful, refreshing change of pace from your typical Cape Cod restaurant (not that there's anything wrong with that!). From the moment you walk in, the décor is fascinating -- interesting colors, fabrics, artifacts. The menu is very different, but comes with good explanations of the dishes. We ordered a variety of meals, and everyone was very pleased with our selections. Mildly spicy, several curry dishes, good vegetarian choices as well. We'll be back.

We ate at Karoo in Eastham three times within a short period, each time with couples. We knew that their other restaurant in P'town was very highly rated, so we figured this would be good as well. It did not disappoint! The food was excellent, the service good, waitress knowledgeable, and a pretty nice atmosphere.
I particularly liked that each time we ate there, the owner came out and introduced herself to our table. She is very sweet, and her South African accent is mesmerizing. The food served is South African, with uniquely different and delicious flavors. I've never been disappointed there.
The only thing that holds me back from a five star rating is price. I think the prices could be a bit lower. If they were I'd go there more often. My suggestion is, GO THERE, YOU'LL LIKE IT!
