“Best B&B on Cape Cod!”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

We have visited the Cape 11 times and we always stay at the Whalewalk Inn. Kevin and Elaine Conlin are the most gracious hosts and feel like extended family to us. Their children Heather and Brendan have grown up to wonderfully compliment their parent's hospitality. The breakfasts are inventive and always delicious.. They gladly accommodate any special dietary needs. The Inn is centrally located to explore all of the Cape. The Cape Cod National Seashore is 5 minutes away.

I came back one year later as promised and Bill and Elaine did not disappoint. We, and all other guests are treated as family. The penthouse is still beautiful and clean and the deck and grounds are peaceful. The morning breakfast is the highlight of the morning no matter what my husband and I have planned to see and do. You can't beat the fresh, homemade morning menu.

I was a guest while a bridal party had also booked for the weekend. Wedding bookings are pretty common from what I hear. The grounds are beautiful for photography and the cottages are comfortable for even the most demanding and discriminating guest. For those who do not want to climb stairs, please make sure to book a ground floor cottage. The spa is great, the exercise room is well kept and the sauna and hot tub are a nice treat. My husband and I will be back next year for sure and I will definitely get the massage treatment this time.

I don't like b and bs, but my wife does. That said, we stayed in what was an old house modernized. Had to walk up with bags, at least 15 steps with high risers. I'm in fine shape, but don't like this about most b and bs. Small room window a/c unit which was adequate to the task, but, as these things are, noisy. Our room faced the road, and while not much traffic, each passing vehicle was loudly audible. Small gripes: Bath/shower was a "plastic insert" sort of set up. It was clean and did work, but in a "quaint old inn", kind of tacky. Toilet paper holder was mounted on wall vertically, because there wasn't enough space to handle horizontal mounting--could have solved this by mounting it on the cabinetry for the sink. DVD player did not work--had to almost beg host to come have a look in the event we were using incorrectly--it was simply broken, and he didn't even say "sorry it isn't working" or words to that effect--did say he'd get a new unit tomorrow, well after our departure--I expected more for the money. Baseboard heating units were chipped and rusty in a few spots--not my ideal for a hotel room, 'er sorry, inn accommodation. Didn't use or see the spa, so can't comment. Breakfasts, typical inn fare--high calorie, low nutrition, high carb fried stuff, served with microtome-thin fruit slices. Looks nice, but is a lot of empty calories, but this is typical B and B stuff. Outside terrace for breakfast was quite lovely, given that it was a pleasantly cool morning, but mosquitoes did abound. My sense is that these "innkeepers" went into this line of work for reasons other than a passion for hotelier work. If I return, will explore alternative options to stay. It I had to use a school grade and blend value into it, I'd give a C+ largely because it was a comfortable bed and the room was clean--let me add, the amount of soap given was skimpy, one slim glycerin hand soap, another for the tub. We took 4 showers in two days, and the soap was almost inadequate to the task--not impressed by this skimping on soap, and towels for that matter.

Room Tip: Don't select room 3, it faces the road.

Just just spent the weekend at the Whalewalk Inn & Spa in Eastham, MA. The family- owned inn was absolutely wonderful - charming, comfortable and very relaxing. The room we stayed in was lovely and very comfortable and both breakfasts were unbelievable - probably the best breakfast either of us have ever had. We sat on a lovely outdoor, covered patio and enjoyed meeting other guests - even made friends with a couple from Wash. DC who we hope to see again! The first morning we had a mellon bread followed by an extraordinary "breakfast" pizza. The next morning we had a different bread that was just as delicious and an unusual, yummy omlette.

The family members who run the inn are welcoming and very accomodating. The Inn is close to Orleans and many wonderful Cape beaches. We couldn't have been more happy with our choice of a place to stay on beautiful Cape Cod.

Thank you so much for your kind words. So glad you enjoyed our little piece of Heaven on Cape Cod. Hope you enjoy making the melon bread. The secret to not making it over moist (as then your bread will sink) is to give the melon a few shakes to get as much juice out as possible. A wire colander works best. Happy baking and thank you again. Elaine

Bill and Elaine have a five star gem waiting for you. We stayed for three nights in The Barn Suite. The morning breakfasts were wonderful out on the patio. The brandy or sherry nightcap offered nightly was the perfect way to finish off perfect days on Cape Cod.

The Inn is a gorgeous property well located in mid- Cape Cod. The rooms are spacious and well decorated with lovely seating areas outdoors. The gardens are large and beautiful. Great breakfasts, friendly & helpful hosts, and great dining nearby make this a great choice. The beach is within walking distance.

My husband and I visited this inn for the first time. The owners are very friendly and upon checking in showed us around the inn and brought us up to our room. Our room was very tastefully decorated and very clean. What was a nice touch was when we went down for breakfast our room was cleaned and we didn't have to be disturbed at other times when we simply chose to relax in our room. The breakfast was very good and if you didn't want to eat what the main dish was for the day you could chose granola served with fresh fruit. Another nice touch was that cordials are available in the evening. One day we relaxed in the adirondack chairs on the property. Next time I would like to take advantage of the indoor pool and or a massage which can be arranged for an additional fee. I might consider a different room on another visit as ours faced the street which is somewhat busy and a little noisy. AC could use a little improvement.

Room Tip: Might be best to chose a room towards the back of the property as the stairs to our room are very s...

The Inn was built in 1830 for Henry Harding, a renowned whaling captain. In the early nineteen hundreds it became a gentleman’s farm, known as Whalewalk Farm, then owned by the Kent family of PR Lorillard tobacco fame. With a cow and horse still living in what is now the Salt Box Cottage, the farm was purchased in 1953 and turned into an inn. Since that time it has been authentically restored and creatively redecorated. The common rooms are filled with the Innkeeper’s extensive Waterford Crystal collection, 19th century country antiques from England and France, fresh flowers, and oriental rugs for a warm welcome to start your stay. ... more   less
