This hotel was perfect for our plans as it allowed us to stay right on the beach without having to commit for a 1 or 2 week minimum. The location on South Beach is beautiful and perfect for all beach activity - just a short walk through a private pathway to get there. We stayed just prior to the Summer season and the island was not crowded, so the hotel seemed to be nicely away from people/traffic - yet close enough to Edgartown to get supplies, eat, shop, etc...(but perhaps when the full summer crowd arrives it may be different). The surrounding roads were so quiet that we were able to ride bikes without seeing more than a handful of cars - and very comfortably ride into town.

The suite we stayed in - West Chop - had plenty of kitchen space (pantry and refrigerator) to make your own breakfast and lunch/snacks - if you stop and shop in Edgartown for supplies on the way in.

The resort has lots of bike rack space. We rented bikes from a local bike shop not affiliated with the Winnetu and they dropped the bikes at the resort's bike rack and they were all waiting in the rack when we arrived. This was much easier than bringing our own.

The in-house "Lure" restaurant for dinner was o.k. and a good option if weather is bad or you have young kids and don't want to leave the property. Its a nice dinner but we preferred the many other restaurants we visited throughout MV that are only a short drive from the hotel.

The staff was excellent and attentive.

We loved it ...and will be back.

Room Tip: The West Chop suite was excellent value for 5 if staying less than a week as we did. If more than a...

It will meet and exceed your expectations. In particular we were impressed with the YES attitude and responsiveness of the staff. They will try anything reasonable to accomodate a request. Restaurant and service were awesome, shuttle service like a Swiss watch, grounds meticulously maintained, rooms comfortable and clean, kitchenettes well equipped and location absolutely perfect. Hope to be back one day.

We were so lucky to have booked one of the garden cottages the first year they've been available. So cute and everything brand new. Could not fault it at all - the kitchen kit was lovely and so much space as we had the two bedroom option for 5 of us. It was good to be attached to the hotel - great facilities and all spotlessly clean. Used the pool, table tennis, tennis, fuss ball, the beach and the shop for breakfast sometimes. Only slight criticism was the maid service was a bit erratic - bins left unemptied, towels not changed, bbq not cleaned occasionally depending on who was on duty.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Winnetu. Our kids enjoyed running around the lawn, the antique fire truck and the Alice in Wonderland giant chessboard. The library was also stocked with DVDs and board games. I enjoyed the yoga session with Emily. Staff were really friendly, helpful and rooms were very clean. South Beach was an easy walk. I emailed the resort in advance for tour recommendations and they referred us to Ralf Pirozzi. we enjoyed exploring the island with him. He was insightful, helpful and really my kids really loved him! I couldn't fault our stay here and would definitely recommend this place.

One of the nicest vacation spot I ever been too. Everyting was perfect including the weather, the staff, the accomodations and the location. The room (Chappy) was absolutley nothing short of magnificent. It was 1st time to the vineyard and I will go back in the future. It was also great for the kids making it a perfect family spot. We loved the Alice in wonderland chess board and chairs to make it moreof a fantasy. The childrens activit room was loaded with toys and challenging games for the kids. Everyone should experience this resort. I liked it better than the Hamptons being a former New yorker now a floridan! Keep up the good work.

Our first trip to Martha's Vineyard, hopefully not the last! Our accommodations at The Winnetu were superb. Each of us had a big smile on our face when we walked into our Chilmark cottage and saw how nice, spacious and comfortable it was. Our stay was quiet and relaxing just as we wanted. We were there just before the start of the summer season. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating - friendly and helpful.

We wanted to plan a special trip to celebrate our daughters' graduation from middle school, so we spent 2 nights in NYC and 5 on Martha's Vineyard. We couldn't have chosen a more perfect place on the island or anywhere else than Winnetu. The staff greeted us warmly and attended to our every need. We loved our spacious, comfortable suite on the second floor with a view of the ocean and easy acces to the pool and beach. There is SO much to do on this charming property that it is virtually impossible to get bored. There are tennis courts, swimming pools, ping pong, foosball, and a giant chess board. An expansive lawn invites you out to play with soccer goals, putting green, corn hole, and a beautiful open area beside a pond with a fountain. The wooden lounge chairs by the pond provide a great place to relax with a book while the kids play. The general store offers paninis, clam chowder, breakfast items, and the best chocolate chip cookies you will ever find on a store shelf. There is also more formal dining at The Lure, which draws diners from all over the island, and during the summer months there is a poolside grill. We especially enjoyed making s'mores over the fire pit. You can borrow a book, board game, or DVD from the casual library off the lobby. The Winnetu strikes a perfect balance- peaceful and relaxing while offering limitless fun for kids. This was our first trip but certainly not our last. We can't wait to return to the Winnetu very soon!
