“Tasty food, friendly informal place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2014 via mobile

This is just the ticket for the vineyard off-season. It's cosy, the food is fresh and warming, and the atmosphere is lovely. It's a little bit pricey perhaps but the vineyard is expensive all over. We had delicious soups - clam chowder, rich tomato soup - followed by scallops on a lobster and apsaras risotto app, and a vegetarian plate, mod various roast and sautéed vegetables, put together creatively. Everything was delicious. Portions are too generous - we didn't have space for the desserts. Service is nice and friendly, and the atmosphere is that of a laid-back, informal cottage.

“Great Brunch with Extended Family”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 December 2013

Had a great brunch with the extended family, including my mother-in-law who was making her first trip to MV. Received great food and service, which isn't always easy with a group of 8. Coffee was strong and tasty. I had the cod cakes & eggs - absolutely delicious - as were the dishes of the rest of our group. They do a great job of sourcing local products, so I also chose the M.V. farm fresh eggs. Lucky Hanks is a warm place to stop, particularly on a rainy fall day, or any day really.

Lucky hanks is a must visit restaurant on Martha's Vineyard! The breakfast is to die for!! Love the French toast, the full breakfast is also fantastic! Local coffee is a plus. The decor is really unique, Doug does a fantastic job!! Now that I have moved off island I really miss this place, it is so homey! Dinner is also great and worth checking out!

“For Dinner: Friendly Staff, Pricey Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

Lucky Hank's was recommended to us as a good dinner experience. The food was not as memorable as Deirdre, the friendly, outgoing server. The lemon herb encrusted cod left us disappointed, considering the $25 price tag. Pan seared scallops and beef tenderloin tips were slightly above average. Clam chowder was not up to par when stacked against expectations for a highly rated New England eatery, although the creamy tomato soup had a unique kick, without the salty taste typical for this dish. The spinach artichoke dip appetizer was unremarkable for the $9 price tag. We visited Lucky Hank's after the summer tourist crush. It's relatively small and one can imagine it's hard to book a table at high season. As much as we enjoyed being out with friends, the $40pp tab (incl. 2 glasses of wine served in small mason jars) dining at Lucky Hanks did leave us with the impression that we would have enjoyed our evening more if the food quality was more commensurate with our expectations.
